I'm with ffiscool on whether he is happy or not ... he wouldn't be as vocal if he was feeling lonely and left out. That's not to say he wouldn't be happy to see a feathered friend, but at least you can be reassured that he isn't pining for his old buddy. xx

Tonight I could have jumped over the moon. Every night my two boys would come up to the side of the cage around 6.30pm , they would jump onto the feeding dishes and I would get up off my chair and go to them and have our nightly little chat, they initiated this every night for as long as I can remember, and I loved it. Sadly, since Max died Ben stopped doing it, until tonight, he jumped up gave a few whistles as if to say "come on Mum, you ready for a chat". I could have cried I was so happy. Not a good picture, but this was how it looked.

Brilliant I know what you mean about not knowing if they are happy or not. I was and still am a bit concerned about Eric now he is alone but he flies about like a mad man and shouts for me when I come in. He is eating out of my hand and I nose his beak at least 3 times a day. You have to hope that they are happy, like Hezz said, I’m sure they would be much quieter if they were unhappy. At this time Alex and I have made the decision that we don’t want any more budgies, it’s too heartbreaking when we loose one and I cannot deal with the stress. Who knows what we will feel in due course but we will see.

Milk Thistle for your budgie, how very interesting. Forgive me if I've missed any of this but is that to protect the liver?

Who knows what we will feel in due course but we will see. That's how I feel too helenmat, but then the guilt kicks in, and I think it's unfair on Ben to be alone, I spend as much time throughout the day as I can with him, but I'll never replace one of his own kind. It's giving me sleepless nights. I also feel for my OH, as the budgies were my choice, and because I have no one to look after them we haven't had a holiday or even a weekend away in over 4 years. But still he isn't against me getting another.

That is so lovely jellybean, it made my heart soar when I read it because I know EXACTLY what that feels like Ben wants to get back to the old routine with you and he must feel so confortable with you Did you discuss anything interesting? I come out with all sorts of things when I jabber on to my boys, Nubbs in particular. I ask him about what he thinks about anything ans he tells me all sorts of exciting things...what they are...well I dont know but it sure sounds nice

It's a feeling you can't describe unless you're a budgie lover. So I know you get it.
A lot of nonsense on my part Sam, but he seems to like to sit and listen 😉🤣
