So my 1.5 year old budgie was flying in my room as she always does. when she got stuck in a fly catcher. It is like a piece of plastic with really sticky stuff on it which is sweet to chat flies. We got her out and washed her with baby oil on some paper, which helped the most get out. But today she has been stretching only one feather continiously and still can't fly. Can it maybe be broken?? There is a little bit of blood on it but we have tried to help her. i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but she husually flies away from my hand, but today she has been moving to it almost as if she is asking me to help her. What do i do???
This happened around 2 days ago but she started stretching today.

If you fear that there might be an injury or break, you really need to get her seen by a vet. Is all the sticky glue off? If not, KY jelly works wonders, apparently - yes, that personal lubricant is what I mean. Then try washing her off with a soft dishwashing detergent (Dawn eg) and rinse off very well. If she will stand it, you can try drying her off with a hair dryer on low. It could be simply that a feather has broken and the end is sticking into her, as well.

We washed her off with baby oil, seemed to do the trick. She doesnt seem to have a feather poking her but i really cant get a clear view. heres a picture of her holding her wing up

Is she holding it like that all the time? If so I would suggest she really does need to see a vet.

What is going on under that wing?
I'm really curious to know how you got the baby oil out of her feathers. If it is still on her feathers, that will go a long way to explaining why she can't fly.

She is lifting it like that most of the time, yes. And we used some cotton to get the baby oil out, maybe i missed some and thats why she cant fly? And she is not tame so i could only pick her up when she was stuck in the fly catcher. picking her up again will be hard.

I really do think the baby oil will still be coating her feathers. Their feathers really shouldn't have anything put on them, ever, although I realise you needed to to get the junk off her feathers. But the wing is another issue. I'm afraid the only way to know what is going on is to catch her again. Probably best if a vet has a look at her if you aren't sure, but something is definitely not right with her wing. It might as simple as a broken feather from her run-in with the fly catcher, or something more serious. Does under her wing look okay to you? There are some dark patches showing up in the photo, but whether they are just finely covered skin or something more serious can't be determined.

The dark spots are probably missing feathers. She lost some when we removed the catcher, but we tried to do it as slowly and gently as we could. I will try to take her to the vet when i can

I took her to the vet, they said she just needed a few days to recover and she was lifting her wing because it stung when her wing touched a wound under her wing. A few days later she is feeling much better! thanks for all the help.
