Sam seems a bit under the weather today, poops have been a bit off colour and slightly runny, he seems to have ok poops when eating millet sprays, but when I try and get him to eat the seed Ben has it seems to upset him.
I know everything is a big change for him, stuck on his own now, when he had birdies in an aviary to play with and chat to, and a diet change, I just feel he can't live on millet indefinitely.
I have emailed the birdcare company to ask should I add some Avipro Plus to his water, waiting on them getting back to me.
Seems a bit lethargic today, putting that down to his poops.
Any suggestions anyone???

This was the reply from birdcare company:-
Thank you for contacting us. It does sound like the change in the diet is the cause of the problem. I am not sure what Avipro is, so I cannot advise on that particular product. What I would suggest is giving a probiotic either like our Potent Brew or BioPlus, which will help the gut to go with the transition.
If the droppings carry on being green, then it maybe that the bird has got a slight infection, so for this we would recommend Potent Brew and Guardian Angel together in the water.
I hope that this is of some help.

Here's what it says on the Avipro Avian tub I have:-
Avipro Avian is a veterinary formulated complete probiotic and prebiotic blend enhanced with vitamins A,C, and E and electrolytes. It's high palatability means that it can be added to the drinking water making it suitable to use for all species of birds.
Avipro Avian is particularly valuable when birds are undergoing stress or veterinary treatment for short term illness or long term chronic conditions. The probiotics colonise the animals gut for a short time and assist in encouraging the right conditions to allow the natural gut flora to re-establish itself. The vitamins are included to help replace those used within the animal under stressful conditions and to help support the immune system.

Hi jellybeanDont panic - am sure it is just an unsetlled tum from the change (its funny when you haven't had a bird from the start from a long time on how much you forget! I was EXACLTY the same!) As advised, I would suggest Guardian Angel EVERY time. I make a habbit of putting it in their water when they first arrive exactly for this reason. Just make sure he is warm which I am sure you are already doing. You can also contact the breeder and ask for some of his feed he gives his birds and use them then gently wean Sam onto your stuff by mixing it in gradually Hope this helps

Just been reading what GA contains Sam, and its similar to the Avipro plus, should I give that just now until I can order GA tomorrow, as they are now closed.
Yes have got him covered on 3 sides to keep some warmth in.

I don't see why not, as long as it's got all the good stuff in it to support a healthy gut like GA then am sure it'd be fine

No worries! It does put the fear of god into you tho doesn't it?
I remember when Murph arrived, my OH was going to write him off there and then because he had runny poops and was behaving terrible.
We then had him in the travel/hospital cage near a radiator with some GA and millet and he bounced back overnight!
Fingers crossed little Sam will be just fine too x

Me too Sam, have added AP to his water, will keep him on millet tomorrow and see how he is, and see what his overnight poops are like tomorrow morning.
More bl**dy grey hairs I can do without 😀

LOL!!! Tell me about it! Do you know what food your breeder gave his birds? As that may really help with his tum too

Everything crossed for a bit of diet change/moving stress.
At least he’s eating, lots don’t at the beginning.
Sounds a good idea to get what he had, if you can, mix it with the new to wean him off

This was Sam's poops from overnight, he's covered on 3 sides and I've got the heating on for him, the poops look terrible, I'm so worried, he's got his head tucked in and sleeping at the minute. Put the Avipro Plus in his water this mirning again and I saw him drink. I'm so worried

Bless him. I haven’t seen poop like this before jellybean but I’m sure someone on here can answer you. I hope he feels better soon.
