The vet said Sam has an upset stomach probably due to the change of seed which has given him an infection. She said his poops were excessively runny and green.
She examined him and weighed him, he was 42g a bit on the thin side she said but wasn't too concerned as overall he was a healthy little boy.
She wanted to keep him in and give him fluid injections to replenish what he had lost and oral antibiotics. I wasn't too keen to leave him, so she said she would give him an injection now and and AB and he could go home.....BUT if he was showing no sign of improvement tomorrow I have to take him back.
She has given me Marbocyl 0.02ml which has to be given orally, ONLY if he is showing signs of improvement, that's to be given at night for one week.
I told her about the Guardian Angel, and she said that Avipro Plus was every bit as good and did the same thing, but, hey ho it's been ordered so no harm done.
I've to keep him on millet tomorrow then remove the millet from the stock and add to a small amount of his seed mix.
Fingers crossed the poops improve and he doesn't need to go back.
Thank you all for the kind wishes xx

A bit up and down Marianne, one minute he's chirping and squawking, even held onto the perch on the way to vet and was flapping his wings like mad.
He is still eating and drinking well, but also sleeping and the vet said he was a bit fluffed up looking.
Still got his cover on and hot water bottle on top of the cage.

Sorry I didn't get on yesterday, jellybean. Late to the party but sounds like you and the vet have Sam on the up and up. I was going to say stick with the Avipro as that was what the vet had already recommended to you before, but either or, really. It is a pity breeders don't think to add a small amount of their seed mix with any baby going to a new home, this would save a lot of new owners a heap of grief, let alone much better for our new buds. Who needs new food to contend with, when already stressed from a big move?? Come on Sam, back to your chirpy cheery self, please. xx

Thanks Hezz, I'm hoping and praying his poops are at least a bit better tomorrow, I can't bear the thought of leaving him at the vet.

His poops are still green and runny, he's eating and drinking the water with Avipro Plus in it, he's had a few chirps and squawks to Ben this morning, but then he sits quiet and fluffed up.
I'm between a rock and a hard place as to whether to take him back to the vet to be kept in, or wait until the Guardian Angel arrives and see if it helps, or wait to see later on this afternoon if his poops improve.

What a hard decision to make. I can understand that you do not want to be parted from Sam.

Sorry he is feeling poorly always very stressful and upsetting. I have seen droppings like this - I call them splats - and they have usually been from an infection, i found they didn't get better until they were given antibiotics, usually for a week either orally or diluted in their drinking water. No veg to eat, only seed and millet. I know it's horrible leaving them at the vets, especially the stress it causes the budgie, could the vet not give you baytril or tylan depending on whether its bacteria or fungal? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the medicine they gave you.

What a hard decision to make. I can understand that you do not want to be parted from Sam. I know Marianne, and I'm still undecided. The Guardian Angel came this morning and was put in his water straight away, and I have seen him drink. He is still pooping green. My intention was, see how he is late afternoon, but I'm feeling a bit out of my depth at the minute 😓😓

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the medicine they gave you. clt80, she gave him an injection and antibiotics last night, and the Marbocyl, no mention of the one's you've spoken about. I'm only giving millet at the minute. The leaflet I got with the Guardian Angel says, "Antibiotics are not our preferred treatment for diarrhoea as they destroy the good bacteria as well as the bad which risks upsetting the gut even further" OH, is away with the car at the minute and due home just after 3pm, if he is still the same I think he will need to go back to the vet. I'm quite emotional today, can't bear the thought of him being ill.

It is upsetting I can imagine you're feeling very drained with the stress and upset.
I suppose it depends if it's just a change in food so an upset tummy which will settle, or if it is an infection that needs a bit more help.
Give the GA a try and reassess in the morning, see if the droppings are firming up or getting better in colour.
I have used GA as first port of call for splats, I want to give them a chance to get better rather than straight to a stressful vet trip, but ones this runny and green have never got better with out anti biotics. This is only my experience though.
See what OH says and decide together. The good thing is Sam is eating, that's a huge plus.
