Safe indoor plants for my parakeet

I'm planning to get an indoor plant for my bedroom. However, I'm not sure if all indoor plants are safe for budgerigars.
Since my budgie spends a lot of time in my bedroom, I want to make sure that the plant isn't poisonous for him.
Are there any indoor plants I should avoid?

There are plenty you should avoid, so go on-line and look up bird-safe plants, check a few different sites and cross-reference as not all will agree. Find something that will survive in your local region, but a word of warning - if the budgie takes a liking to your `plant, the plant may not survive. Budgies can be very hard on potted plants, shredding them in a matter of days.
