We have an 18 month old single female budgie who spends a lot of time making her usual calling chirps and we were thinking she might be lonely given how she reacts with birds on the tv etc.
We live in a flat so was wondering whether two budgies were much noisier or would they be more inclined to chatter amongst themselves?

I don't think two are any noisier than one, but then your one is a hen. Get her a male friend and he can spend his time trying to court her. The noise won't be louder, but rather be more constant. They will have times of quietly nattering to each other, but they wouldn't be birds if they didn't have something to tell the world. Mornings and evenings are going to be the worst.
