Today I had a break through of amazing porportion! I took Kiwi out. He flapped around but....eventually he settled on my arm and let me take him around! He ran up my arm and burrowed through my hair! I placed my finger on his chest and he stepped up! I switched him from finger to finger! This is not the behavior of a scared and untrustful budgie. I am going to take him out every day and let him play around my room. He loves climbing up on my bed and is intrigued by my fish tanks! He spent a long time watching the bettas. He also loves sitting on my chair and preening.
This is probably the most fulfilling thing that every happened to me! I feel so proud that after three months of patient work he will sit on my shoulder and climb into my hair

Isn't it just the best feeling. I'm so pleased you're seeing results. Patience always wins in the end with a budgie.

I let kiwi out, he is definitly getting more comfortable. However sometimes he will peck me when I come to take him out. But he is usually fine once he is out

Congratulations, you are on your way to having a tame budgie. It is absolutely the best feeling! Once he is familiar with your room you can just open his cage and let him learn to come out and go back on his own. Yes, patience and more patience reap great rewards. Now once he is totally bonded with you, you may never eat anything alone again. Be prepared for a little feathered creature that must taste everything you eat. Best not to snack in your room...you have been warned...lol.

You could let him have his own strawberry, that's ok.

You could let him have his own strawberry, that's ok. He gets his own berries! But he insists on eating mine!
