Hello everybody, After reading a lot about the benefits of calcium I started introducing my 2 budgies to egg foods. So I got some and mixed a bit with their seeds and at the beginning they refused it then gradually they started eating it. The problem is that now and on observing my budgies I noticed that their droppings became very runny and watery . I am not sure what that indicates, is it normal maybe due to getting used to this new type of food or is it something wrong with the food? I have stopped using it for now but would value your advice on this. Thank you all

Is it dried egg food you are using? If so, could you post a picture of the box and I'm sure members will help. It's dried I use, and I do the same as ladybird

Thank you very much for the replies and help. And to answer the questions; Yes I bought Higgin's dried "Protein egg food" and as per instructions it can be fed dry or moist, so I went for the dry way by mixing it with the seeds . I changed it once in 3 days (maybe i should have on daily basis?). but after i noticed my birds' droppings become very watery I directly stopped using it and went back to their original diet and currently keeping them under observation to see if things will improve. I am asking this as my female is currently with eggs and wanted to have a good source of calcium and other nutrients to help her and any coming chicks . I have a cuttlebone in their cage; will that be enough ? I am including a pic of the egg food I used as requested. would appreciate your help and advise. thanks again

Perhaps they have over-dosed themselves on the eggfood for it to have affected their dropping, but I do as the others have mentioned and feed it separately. It is something that can go mouldy, I store mine in the freezer for this reason.
Cuttlefish bone is normally supplemented by either calcium in the water or some form of egg.

Thank you for the reply. I have currently stopped using that one and got a mineral block for the time being. Maybe I will return back to the egg food after a while. Currently I am keeping it in the fridge and will use it as advised separately. Really appreciate your inputs and information.
