Today I went to the budgie shop!!! I was thinking of getting two more budgies, and thought I would have a look and see what they had. Sometimes they don't have any, sometimes they have loads. I wanted green ones. They have quite large aviary type cages in this particular shop, one with canaries, one with bourkes, one with cockatiels etc., and today they had two large cages with budgies in. One cage had special breeds/colours in, lutinos, cinnamons, one violet, greys, the other cage had about 50 GREEN budgies in! Wow!! I looked very closely and decided on two that I would like, but didn't come away with any! The thing is, how on earth is this stupid man in the shop going to pick them out from all the other green ones? He is the horrible man I saw the first time when I went in to get the two I have now, so I didn't want to be served by him! Sadly, I came away with no budgies. I will be visiting the shop again this week. There is another young man in there that seemed more knowledgeable, that served me last time, so hopefully today was his day off. I forgot to add, in the special breeds cage they had TWO Baileys ffiscool! I thought of you, and the did just look like Bailey, but obviously not quite as handsome!!

This so reminds me of when i was a child, we had lost our first budgie and wanted another one. The man at the top of our road bred them, so off we went. His loft was a huge aviary and he must have had about 150 budgies flying around, ALL GREEN . His face was a picture when my mum asked me to pick one . How about i get you a nice little boy he said. In he went with a huge net and the rest is history, George was with us for 12 years. Exciting Shirls , cant wait to meet them but then you must feel the same Ive searched for a lady Bailey for years for sir but never found one like him, bit of a drag up to your way

When I go back skysmum, I'll check out the 'Baileys' and see if there is a girlie there! I'd be willing to drive half way to you!! Yeah, where would I put all 50 green budgies suesbird, Marianne Marlow, Jane? Much as I would love an aviary, there is no chance whatsoever. I have enough to do with 6 chooks and the budgies I have already. jellybean, no, I don't suppose I could pick out the same two that I took a fancy to yesterday! I think when I go back I will just have to ask for a 'green budgie' and leave it to luck. Of course I will check it out, make sure it's a male (that's what I have decided anyway) and go from there. I am thinking though, that perhaps I ought to just get one for the moment. I am trying to plan ahead, and don't want to completely upset the balance that I have at the moment between the buds I have.

😱What’s the noise level of 50 budgies like?! Green budgies are extra special I think.

The noise in the shop I go to is horrendous with birds starrymist. Not only are there 50 odd budgies, there are canaries, bourkes, parrots, love birds, a macaw, you name it, they've got them. As well as those little brown things that run around the floor in budgie cages, not sure what they are, look like small female pheasants, and they are REALLY noisy! I've got to say I don't like going in there very often cos I cannot risk the temptation of coming out with another budgie! There is also a Mrs Bailey skysmum! She was chewing a wooden part of the wall on my first visit and was still there chewing the wall on my second visit!!

Are you thinking of quails, Shirls?? Little "eggs on legs"? YES!! Hezz, that's them. I couldn't think of their name yesterday. Memory is failing a bit lately! In answer to your question samwiseg I have been again and a little green budgie plopped into my pocket!!!
