I had been following an online handfeeding guide that stated English budgie chicks should be fed on the following schedule.
2-3 weeks should take 2-4 ml every 3 hours 3-4 weeks should take 4-6 ml every 4 hours 4 weeks - weaning should take 5-8 ml every 5 hours
I have 2 4week old english chicks that take anywhere from 4-8 ml per feeding every 4-5 hours. I went to the vet today and she told me I was doing everything wrong and made me feel like crap honestly. She said a 4 week old chick should be eating 1.5-1.75ml per feeding. I'm worried about dropping their intake by so much.
1 of the chicks is eating pellets consistently but is in no way self-sufficient and the other chick doesn't seem interested in pellets yet.
Am I really feeding them 4x more food then what I should? What's everyone else feeding their chicks and at what age? This is my first time handfeeding so I'm still learning.

I hate to disagree with your vet, but the amount she suggests is what I'd feed to a chick who is less than 5 days old. The amounts you're feeding are about the same as the ones I have used in the past and are widely recommended in other sources. Did she weigh your chicks and were they in normal range? As long as they are emptying most of the food in their crops between feedings I'd wager you're doing just fine.

Oh, I think you've been doing quite a bit of hand-feeding of late!
