SamwiseG that's not what I said. I said I don't have the money to, and also I am homeschooled and go to a meeting 1 day a week.

Also this conversation has turned into people criticizing me and my pet ownership skills so I think I am done here.

I'm afraid that coming to a board dedicated to budgies and stating that you value your cat more than your birds isn't going to be met with much understanding. Get some antiseptic, dab it on her wound and hope for the best. Good luck

SamwiseG that's not what I said. I said I don't have the money to, and also I am homeschooled and go to a meeting 1 day a week. We are not trying to criticise you we are trying to establish why you are unable to take her to the vet and are trying to help as much as we can going on what you have said. I quote "I left for school for about 8 hours" and "She now has a hole in her chest/stomach, and I also held her to see how deep it was. I believe I can see her stomach/intestines, or whatever that would be" Would imply that she has injuries that are so severe that only a qualified avian vet would be able to deal with. You then state "Also, she was not sitting in a cage full of blood, there were only a couple drops. I could have just seen torn skin, but either way she seems to be acting fine. So it's not as serious as you thought. If you are not able to show us pictures either for us, to give a considered assessment, it does seem that your story is now beginning to seem very unlikely. Either way your bird will need treating medically. If you are unable to do this then please kindly give your bird(s) to someone who would be likely to prefer keeping birds and be more responsible to their pets.

I have her for a friend for my other budgie. Neither of them interact with me, I have them for company.

I’m sorry. I still don’t understand. You have your cat for company. You don’t regard budgies as pets in the same way
I can only now say, that I wish your injured budgie well and hope she’s ok

Most of us would go, and have gone to great lengths to care for our birds, many of us have spent small fortunes at vets in the past and will continue to do so. There is no such thing as a low budget pet imo. Choosing to have a pet gives some responsibly to the owner to make sure that pet is well cared for.
If you think the wound is clean you could try applying some savlon to it and make sure it doesn't get infected, but please if it gets worse seek some professional help. For your birds comfort at least.

Hello Henry. I am new to this board and just catching up on my reading. Just on the off chance that you will check this posting again, I thought I'd offer my thoughts/advice. I live in Southern California and avian vets here charge between $25-50 for the initial consultation. Even though your bird is acting fine she may develop an infection from the cat's scratch. Have you discussed this with your parents? If she needs treatment and you are unable to pay for it, the vet may be willing to put you in contact with your local bird rescue group who will take her. The SPCA will also have contacts for bird rescue groups in Houston. They will pay for her treatment and find her a good home. You should also give them your other bird - since you don't interact with the birds they have become companions to each other and will not take well to being separated. You said you wanted low value pets and your cat was your main pet. Have you considered mice as pets? They can be amusing and don't require much up keep. If you do read this post, let me know how it turns out with your birds.

All good advice, thanks for posting.
But I'd disagree with keeping mice when you have a cat. Just my opinion!
