Quick! Check if he weighs the same as a duck! I enjoy coincidence. There are also times when the more superstitious part of my mind wonders how much of a situation is coincidence and how much might be something moooooooore! *spooky music* (Clearly October is getting to me! ) Anyway, to actually explain, because it's October I decided to get my Pagan friend a Samhain gift. In all of 8 years, Munchy has never reacted to the postman but yesterday he went completely nuts, flying back and forth to the living room door and making a racket. The only thing that had arrived was that present. We now suspect Munchy of devilry and witchcraft! (Perhaps my fiance's dramatics are getting to me as well. ) Anyone else ever had their budgies react strangely to something on specific occasions?

No; I can't think of anything like that happening with mine.

Dunno if this counts @sillycat84? Only thing that happened to me once was a had someone come round to do a consultation/interview sort of thing (wont go into details) but she was NOT a very nice person.
Monty my beloved henny DID NOT LIKE HER.
Now when Monty was scared of anything she would always go and sit on top of her cuttle which was at the farthest corner of the cage.
Me and this lady didn't shout at all but we had a strong exchange of words and Monty just knew the atmosphere wasn't right.
Took me a while after the lady had gone to calm her down!

I’d count that, samwiseg. I’m always amazed by how perceptive these little guys are!

Can't say I have ever heard of 'Samhain' before so I researched it. Amazing how one can learn something every day, if one takes the time of course. I found it very interesting, this bit in particular: Candle Ceremony for The Ancestors
This is a wonderfully simple ritual which can be shared with both friends and family, or worked alone. You can include children in it - it begins in darkness and ends full of light.
It's a great balance to trick or treating!
You will need a supply of small candles, either black or white, or a supply of night lights.
You need a heat proof container or tray of sand or earth to put them in. Place one in the centre of the container from which all the others will be lit.
Switch off all the lights and sit gently in the darkness. Allow the darkness to enfold you.
Ask for the presence of your ancestors to come to you. When you are ready, light the central candle saying
"We welcome our departed loved ones into this home and honour your presence amongst us".
Allow each person in the circle to spontaneously remember someone who has passed to the Summerlands and remember something about them and light a candle for each person from the central candle: 'I remember Great Aunt Sheila and her generosity of heart....'.
Allow this to continue for as long as it takes to complete the re-membering. You will end with a tray full of radiant candles. When all is complete, give thanks, and allow the candles to burn to completion.
This is the site I got it from if anyone is interested: www.goddessandgreenman.co.uk/samhainhalloween/I'd be interested to see what gift you bought for Munchy @sillycat84, if you don't mind of course! My birdies are in desperate need of new toys.

Well I bought my friend an athame, which is made of wood so if it's safe wood I guess I could let Munchy have it! I have yet to find what to buy Munchy for his gift. I could probably get some of those JW Activitoys though. They usually go down well with him. If the Natural Bird Co was currently taking orders (poor Darren) then I might get him a new chewwy toy for him to find interest in in about 6 months!

It all sounds very positive and thoughtful as you are remembering people who you have sadly lossed in a lovely way, and if you believe they will be called to you when you talk about them, celebrating their life, then its all the more good! Can you do this for animals that have passed on too? This almost sounds like something the red indians would do too?

They were very special lives too.
