Shirls mentioned looking for toy ideas and that got me curious too. What toys does everyone have or make for their budgies? Always looking for new ideas, particularly with plans for a newbie, as they'll be less set in their preferences than Munchy. I'll take a photo of Munchy's tomorrow when I get them all out to swap around.

For me, you can't beat the bead spider! My Mont loved it and they are so easy to make Just make sure you use budgie safe materials. I used thin leather string and plastic coloured beads. Just thread them on to the leather with a knot tired at one end and tie the other end to a stainless steel ring.

My guys are boring, the boys like mirrors and eachother, the girls like destroying balsa. Lucy also likes to bully the boys!

Little dinky plastic swings with mirrors in the middle, much as it hurts me to say it. Don't these birds know that plastic is not good for them??? Otherwise, mine are pretty boring as well. I think that is an age thing - they are podgy little middle-aged men.

I have built up a collection of toys over the last few years, most of which are good at gathering dust! My two have a couple of play gyms but only use the one, and they seem to get bored of that sometimes.

The plastic swing with mirror has always been a favourite, and Sam has just discovered he loves it too.
In fact Sam loves ALL the toys, including the crinkly paper, which was always loved by Ben & Max.

The 'see saw' swing with the mirror in the middle has been a firm favourite here for years. I first got it to stop bickering between my two girls - it was a way they could both be sat on the same swing & feel relatively equal! Genius!!
Otherwise, the types of things we like here are paper, palm, munch balls.

I confess to only having one playgym, and it’s plastic. Definitely need new ones. These are Munchy’s toys: The hook broke off the top of the swing mirror so it’s just a mirror now. He doesn’t really play with the rings or quadruplet Kevins unless I attach a preferred Kevin to the bottom, but I guess that’s no different to a budgie that only really likes things with bells on. A lot of the spinning things he spins a bit but mostly just tells them he loves them. The two-coloured Kevin is mostly ignored. Need to decide what to thread on the skewer. He’s not interested in the swing unless I hang a Kevin so he has to get on the swing to reach it. And goodness knows why I have three bells. Ducky is a favourite. And Jeffrey, the plastic budgie that sits on a perch, gets battered about.

Too true. This is just the result of Ant and I buying a couple of presents for him each Christmas though. If it’s non-destructible and doesn’t need tossing due to rust it soon mounts up. Incidentally, Munchy will chew balsa but you usually have to leave the toy in his cage for about a month first, then he’ll rip it for ages until it’s about half its former self, and then just ignore it for the rest of eternity.

My budgie boys don't destroy anything much any more, not even their bark bits. They'll chew a bit of cardboard or paper rope but it is nothing compared to the King Cardboard destroyer.
