Hi, welcome to the forum Ben, if the cockatiel and budgie don't get along, I'd monitor the situation closely incase the cockatiel bites. Hopefully someone with more experience will advise you better.

Welcome to you, Maxi and Benjie. I don't know much about mixing species of birds. Hezz has a sun conure and budgies but doesn't let them out together unsupervised and obviously they don't share a cage.

Cockatiels are generally viewed as one of the more accepting species of the parrot family. In fact they are more inclined to be the more timid if mixed with the out-going personalities of the budgies. These two usually get on rather well together, but if you are seeing that this isn't the case, definitely don't leave them together unsupervised.
As has been mentioned, I have budgies and a sun conure. They are not caged together - they have different housing needs - but they all get along fine together. In fact the budgies, being on the pudgy side, are kicked out of their cage from morning to night, but they and the conure are happy for them to nip next door and hunker down in the conure's cage. What can I say?? They dig into his seed, and as long as they move over when he wants to eat, the three of them seem to be happy enough together.

Thank you everybody !
Don't worry, My two birds (Maki the budgie and Benjie the cockatiel) are supervised when they're out of their cages. But I prefer having one out od his cage at a time. rarely they're out together. And yes, they live in two separate cages.
That's why I've taken that photo, verry odd that Benjie would stay on her cage when Maki is near her !

Like Shirls asked me, here's more about my two birds.
First of all, I've been grown with budgies. Since I can remember, my parents always had budgies at home, one at time. They where male, beacause they have, has you know, the capabality to "speak". quiel of few of them did !
So I've asked my wife if she would be glad to have a budgie, wich she was Ok with. Today, she's verry happy to ghave a budgie. Maki is speaking, saying a lot of things ! He managed to imitate the cockatiel ! It is so near perfection that sometimes I'm not sure of the two birds who's really "talking !"
Benjie, the cockatiel has been giving to me. She was 3 year old at the time. One of my work colleague has to get rid of her. Now she's around 10 years old, she's more attracted to me than my wife. Although she's the only cockatiel of the house, she laid some eggs a few years ago.
