Chirpy is being such a pain! He is bullying Impy just like he did with Squawk. He is constantly pecking Impy on her back which is upsetting her and frankly I’m getting fed up with it. It’s either that or he’s in her face all the time. The poor girl must be exhausted as I know I am just watching him. It’s like he’s hyperactive. He doesn’t sit still. What can I do?

He sounds like PC Bertie, he can be a real pain sometimes, very persistent, follows his chosen victim around, tapping them and getting right into their faces. Of course he could also be chatting Impy up with other intentions, especially if he is tapping her back

Not much you can do except give Impy some time away from him, whether that be Chirpy caged separately, or Impy. Mostly you need to let her handle him as she sees fit. If she was fed up with his attentions, I'd be surprised if she didn't send him on his way very definitely.

Thank you everyone. Impy does tell him off but he doesn’t take heed and just carries on being a pest. The only time he stops is when its dark and I have dimmed the lights. I don’t have the room for a separate cage plus that’s not a life for him really if he’s by himself all the time. He wasn’t so bad before Munchie came along but he’s a real terror now.

I have a time out cage Jane , thankfully i don't use it much but sometimes if we get any disagreements or friction the offender goes in just for a while, they soon get the message . I know you don't have much space but if he's being a real pest just let him out and leave the girls in, or the other way round, for a bit of peace for an hour.

I never even thought of letting him out by himself and visa versa.

We have a time out cage too. Dean Stockwell goes back to his own cage at night but spends all day in with the big birds. But if he becomes too much of a pest he gets sent back to his own cage for a while and he always behaves better when we let him out again. We don't often need to send him home now as he behaves much better but now and again he needs a time out.

This was not meant as a permanent thing, but simply to get the one being bothered a chance not to be, separating them for an hour or so.

Maybe the girls would like the option of some me time too.

I'm glad you posed the question Jane and I have a similaar one to ask so I will start my own thread so as not to hi-jack yours. Hope you get Chirpy sorted soon, it can be such a pain for Impy and an extra worry for you as well. My thread will be 'Pip advice' !!!!

Agree with what has been said - give the opportunity for a little 'me' time, even if it means someone is locked out on his own.
I've always had an extra cage, that started with the quarantine cage not being taken away. I've never had more than 4 buds but they've always had two cages to flit between.
As for the 'in the face' thing - this reminds me of Phineas. I called him The Shadow as he was constantly shadowing Cagney & wherever Cagney turned, Phineas was there. Fortunately, Cagney was pretty chilled out about this (it would have irritated me terribly!!)
Currently we have two flight cages in my small lounge, in place of a settee, so I appreciate the space problem!

I too had a time out cage for when I had all four of our birds and one started to mis behave It was known as the sin bin used to let them cool off for 5 minutes before returning them back (this was when Marley and Nubby used to fight) but it seemed to stop them as they knew what was coming if they did
