My darling budgie has had a respiratory infection. After a few nights at the vet, he is now back to his happy, chirpy self, although still on antibiotics - which is a bit of.a challenge! He has to go back to the vet after his course for the once over but I’m wondering what might have caused this in the first place? Am slightly obsessed that he’s going to get cold at night, although he hasn’t had this problem before. Thanks for any advice.

I think it can be one of those things. Glad he’s perked up

Glad he seems to be on the mend.
Sometimes it can be a fungal or a bacterial infection, from the environment or sometimes spores on food, dodgy or old seed etc. Any veg I always, always, wash before giving budgies to eat.
Even when you have everything right they can still get poorly, no matter how organised you are.

Thanks both - you've made me feel better I've tried hard to get him to eat veg but he hardly touches it. I guess it's one of those things then!

lila don't give up with the veg or herbs. It can take a while before they will even try them, but perseverance usually wins the day. Mine love broccoli, beetroot and romaine lettuce and they go mad for mint and parsley.

Glad your little budgie is getting better, but as mentioned, these things can just happen, unfortunately.
