Hi, I just got a new budgie to replace the loss of a female budgie. I hope my male budgie can get along. They told me it's a female budgie but really can't tell. Any help? Thanks, Rodrigo

The picture isn’t brilliant but I would say you have a hen there

Thanks for letting me know. My other budgie died yesterday and I guess will take time for the male parakeet to become friend with this one. Here is a picture of the male budgie. Aside question, my budgies never liked fruits only seeds. I wonder how I can make the new one get used to eat fruits and vegetables?

Nice looking boy and sorry he lost his partner. Maybe there's a picture for the Christmas banner? Sorry I'm not talented enough to do it. What have you named them?

Be persistent in providing fresh veg (don't worry so much about fruit), starting with things that look the most like their natural foods - grasses and leafy greens. Experiment on how to present it to them. Some will try if chopped small, others like big hunks to get their beak into. Even if they don't eat any, keep trying each day. I recently read a post where the bird had for the first time voluntarily approached fresh vegs and helped itself after two years of trying, so you see it can take time, although this bird wasn't a budgie.
