We now have 2 more budgies staying with us. Do they need to stay in quarantine if I know the person they've come from and they've been fine in an individual cage for the last 4 weeks without any signs of illness? It's the same person the others came from, but they've not been in the outside aviary. Husband is unimpressed. Does anyone have a spare room for him? And how many budgies is the maximum for a Piano 6 cage. There are currently 3 in there. At this rate of progress the house will be taken over by February. husband says it is already

I've wondered that about quarantine before. I suppose it would be best practice to quarantine them still but it'll be interesting to see what others have to say. Sounds like a fun house to me.

I would, simply because it can be the stress of the move that brings unknown illness to the fore. You may feel comfortable reducing the time they spend there, though. I can't answer your question regarding the cage as I'm not familiar with it. Maybe think about getting the Hamberley? These are great flight cages for multiple small birds. www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Friends-Hamberley-Metal-Cage/dp/B005CAY8QA

Can't really justify buying another new cage. The one you've shown has similar dimensions to ours but ours is less tall and longer. As we've got one that really can't do more than flutter downwards, I didn't want it too high, and the new pair are showing no signs of trying to fly, but that may be just them adjusting to a new place.
They're chatting very happily to each other across the room and Rose has very naughtily shown them how to upturn their food dish. She does it once in a while; Maisy was doing it every time I refilled it, so I've had to put an elastic band on the back to stop her removing it.
Ben (one of the old men) has suddenly decided my son is the most amazing member of the flock. He's feeding from his hand, (never done that before) and calling to him if he tries to go out of the room, banging on the cage door to get him to open it and put his hand in, and if he's moving around, he tries to follow in the cage.
Biggles is making up for the cuteness overload my son is suffering from by chewing tail feathers. Violet has retreated to the top of the cage where he can't reach, and Rose is making sure he's the branch above and facing Biggles.

I wouldn't mind having my house taken over by budgies. Sounds quite fun

Hi Biggles, I have a Piano 6 and at present I have FIVE budgies in it. They are all quite small (pet shop) type budgies and they free fly all day. I think five is the maximum I would have in a Piano 6. If they aren't allowed free flight I think four would be the maximum to keep in this type of cage. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Shirls. They don't fly loose all the time, but they can come out evenings and weekends. They often don't choose to fly round (and one can't fly), more climbing over the cage.
But I'm now down to 5 budgies, as I mentioned them to a friend. Turned out she's always had budgies until a couple of years ago, and was looking to get more so I offered the extra two to her. I think they're going to be very spoilt.
Biggles has decided to flirt with Violet at the moment. Violet varies between accepting the food, asking for him to groom her head... and chasing him into the corner and telling him off for being impertinent. Rose otoh has discovered that she can turn one of the swings upside down and has been doing this fascinating game (and then back again) for the last hour.
