Hello everyone I would love you help with this one please sorry for long message. Ok so I have a male budgie about 3-4 years old. The last few months maybe longer he is having trouble flying. He is going through a really bad moult he always ems to moult bad. I have taken him to a vet who thought he had liver disease as he had weight lose and a change in his beak colour. No blood tests were done to confirm but they did do a poo swap which came back normal. She told me to change diet which he has a mix of seed pellets and fruit and vegetables so tried to stick to pellets as she said they were the best. She gave me medicine for liver disease and powder to sprinkle on his good. Any way he hasn’t improved at all. He is still eating and drinking talking. But still can’t fly. He has fluffy feathers on his back and still looking skinny. We have another appointment with a different vet this week going to ask for blood test to rule out liver disease. He’s my little mate I’m so worried about him if any one has any advice can you please let me know. I have also tried spark to give him a bit of a boost. I am getting mixed messages as another lady I spoke to said he shouldn’t be getting Spinach and silverbeet which he loves as the both stop the uptake of calcium never heard that before and not to give him pellets as it overdose them in chemicals?? I just want what’s best for my bird any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Melissa

I wouldn't recommend pellets for budgies to anyone, but if you have been given that advice by your vet then you probably need to stick to their recommendations. A second opinion won't hurt.
Liver disease shouldn't affect his flying ability, though.
