I think Agatha has a respiratory issue, she's squeaking and I can hear a click Calling vets in the morning to see if I can get her in after I finish work. Respiratory issues always fill me with dread, I've never had a successful outcome. Agatha is Mabel's twinny and she is getting on a bit now so I'm worried. Very worried.

I hope the vet appointment is successful and you manage to get her issue resolved.
I agree that respiratory issues are difficult.
JoJo and Billybob had iodine related squeaks that I did manage to help with and they both lived another couple of years afterwards.

I've managed to get her in tomorrow morning at 9.30am. It's not the normal avian vet so I'm hoping whomever it is knows her stuff. I don't feel Agatha should wait until next week for the normal vet. I have brought her and Ralph inside tonight, she's not happy about that. Will let you all. Know. Thanks for the well wishes.

Geez Well, she was very blunt. 'birds don't usually recover from respiratory infection. You may need to pts'. I heard this at least three times. Not very comforting for me even though I know the prognosis. I think she was a locum as I sat for 10 minutes in the consulting room whilst she looked for baytril out the back. She did say that respiratory infections are contagious, which in my experience hasn't proved true at all but what do I know. Made me realise how good my usual avian vet is.

Shocking!!! There are forum members who's knowledge and experience I would trust any day over some of the vets out there. You can only do your best clt80, which you always do anyway.

It is shocking you're right. Generally in life I try to steer away from negativity but this woman was all doom and gloom about my beloved Agatha. She did not say one positive thing.
Sometimes you can reword what you say, particularly in upsetting situations. Rather than say it's not looking good and basically she's about to die etc she could have said OK we know where we are with this but let's stay hopeful and give her a good chance and we will reassess in 10 days.
I know it is serious, but she's not ready to go yet. She jumping about, biting (me), drinking and eating, sitting on her swing, singing.
I've got one of the big cages out, covered the top and sides and she's currently looking out the window: it's a cold but bright day here. She has Ralph with her, millet, broccoli, a herb salad and toys and mirrors.
