We get a lot of news here in the UK about what is happening over in Australia weather wise, and always think of you Hezz... and the poor wildlife.

Aw, thanks, lovelies. It is a whopping big country and much of what is happening doesn't impact on other parts. Thank Heavens we, our little area, are not bush fire prone.

I was watching a documentary yesterday that suggested you would be near the ancient rain forest. Would that be a correct assumption Hezz?

I was watching a documentary yesterday that suggested you would be near the ancient rain forest. Would that be a correct assumption Hezz? Tropical rainforest, yes. We also have ancient temperate and sub-tropical rainforests in other parts of the country. It is an old place, just not old in terms of marks of civilization. Our indigenous folk walked lightly on their country.

Would that be why you get such extreme weather conditions then, and such a multitude of wildlife? I don;t recall the mention of more than one rain forest. But I do recall a comparison with the Amazon with regards size/diversity of wildlife. What a magical place Australia is. with all its many of offshore islands, and the wealth of sealife. Fascinating.

It is fascinating isn't it OP? There was a TV series on recently shown on BBC: Magical Land of Australia, narrated by Barry Humphries which we found REALLY good. And I mean it was up there with David Attenborough. Personally I just love the underwater ocean stuff some stunning footage. You have a beautiful Country there Hezz

I couldn't agree more samwiseg. The series is running again and it is that that I found the rainforest story. I have done some more researching and I was referring to the oldest rainforest in the world the Daintree rainforest. It is professed to be older than the Amazon rainforest. That is where the connection came from. It takes some comprehending he shear size of the country.

I didn't even realise that Dame Edna Barry Humphries was still alive! Just saw this quote of his "Never be afraid to laugh at yourself. After all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century."
