My 3 year old budgie, Chartreuse stopped singing about a month ago and following his silence his feet stopped working properly. Once a bluish purple tint, they are now swollen, red, and have white sores that seem to appear at the joints and his poops are quite watery.
I posted this same inquiry on a separate forum and no body seemed to care and just advised me to take him to a vet. I already took him to the vet and I cannot afford the office visit, let alone the additional tests / medications.
So please, I am begging the experienced budgie owners of this thread to do their best to help me out by diagnosing him. I understand this isn’t an avian vet but please have some compassion helping a loving birdie mother!
I believe it is gout. I have removed almost all seed from his diet and have been feeding him beet tops, spinach, sunflower seeds and turmeric. I’ve also been giving him vitamin c and omega 3-6 in his water to help naturally medicate him from home but his feet seem to be getting worse. Luckily, I have stopped the over access of uric acid in his poop with the diet but I still need some guidance on how to treat this from home.
Taking him to the vet or putting him to sleep is NOT an option.
I highly appreciate any helpful feedback!

Hi and welcome chirpyderpy Am sorry to hear of your poorly bird. Hopefully someone will be along to help soon that may have more info to offer you as I am unable to advise on this. However, you must be aware we are not avian vets here and despite you saying that you are unable to take him to a vet, this birds needs treatment IMMEDIATELY. It looks acute and if something isn't done soon you will lose your bird. Can I also kindly ask why having your bird put to sleep is not an option? Although sometimes this is the hardest decision to make, to do it is kinder to the animal who is suffering. (I hope you don't mind but I have removed your other 2 posts on this topic as they were a duplicate of this one.) Hoping your bird gets help soon

I am sure that people on any forum would care about the health of your bird, but possibly no one feels knowledgeable enough to give you any direct cause. His feet look terribly sore, I'm not surprised that he has stopped singing, but whatever is his problem this really does need a professional's help to diagnose and manage. I think any holistic treatment you decide is the right course of action for him has to be entirely your decision. Any one is going to say the same - your bird needs professional treatment - but as you have stated that that isn't an option, I'm at a loss as to what else to suggest. I am truly sorry that your budgie is in such a bad way. I have no helpful feedback to give and that is not because no one cares.

You could try adding some Apple cider vinegar to his water but use the Braggs with the mother in it if you can get it, it may help but it does look quite severe

Hello chirpyderpy. I am so sorry that intervention by a vet is not an option for you. This little bird must really be suffering so much. Just to try and help ease the problem, I doubt it will cure anything, could you rub some sort of cream on the feet, something like Savlon, Sudacrem or lastly perhaps some vaseline? We are not vets on this forum, but any of those suggestions have been safe to use on budgies feet. I hate to see your little bird suffer so much without any intervention at all. Another good cream that can be purchased from a vet, but no doubt they would want to see the bird first, is Fucidin cream. I know that Fucidin prescribed by a G.P. for us humans works just as well. Please do try this if you can, it would work a lot better than the others already suggested. However, if the problem is gout, or something else, only a vet would be able to deal with it with medication.

Where in the world do you live chirpyderpy? Is there a vet you could contact and explain your situation. They might let you pay his treatment in instalments.
