Hezz That’s a really good idea! So far Indie is difficult to get to come out, but once out can’t seem to figure out how to go back, and Yuki generally wants to be wherever Indie is. Munchy never wanted to go home, so if I knew I needed him in I’d lock him out several hours prior so that he’d be hungry and go in for food. But push coming to shove I could trick him and grab him even outside the cage. (Then I’d have had to rely on keeping him inside a small cage whilst getting Peri to go in to be with him ) But he was brilliant for putting himself away at bedtime. On a winter work day I could get up, change his seed and water, leave the cage door open and the cage uncovered, go to work, come home, find evidence of him having been out to play, and he’d be back inside snuggled down to sleep. Peri then followed that example. And the one time I found Munchy still outside of the cage when it had gotten dark I was able to put on a dim light, talk to him to wake him, and he hopped onto my hand and let me take him to the cage door. Oh, Indie has just made it back inside! Bless him, he’d only just found out where his cage was in the living room when I moved him upstairs.

Love your little guys @sillycat84! When I let my two out I just open their cage door and they come and go as they please. I don't have food and water outside their cage so they go back in to feed. When they go back in their cage close to bedtime I just close the cage door. This is usually some time between 6-7pm. The one time I did have to get them in their cage at night, it was an ordeal. I ended up throwing a tea towel over Buddy when he was on top of the cage and putting him in. I chased Tweetie Pie around with the towel but then realized he was trying to follow Buddy in so I let him be and he flew into the cage. I've had Tweetie Pie about 10 months and Buddy about 6 months and got each of them when they were around 3 months old. I would love to get them where I could have them perch and move them. Sigh, They are still hand shy unless I have millet.

tweetiepiesmom That’s what I used to do with Munchy whilst with my grandparents. So he never learnt to go home because I never usually needed him to. He used to kick up a fuss to my nan when she came home from shopping if she didn’t let him out immediately. He used to call out “Hello!”, “Good morning!” and “Come on!” whenever she walked past the cage! Yuki and Indie are still hand shy even with millet or seed, but it’s early days. I’m sure you’ll get there with Tweetie Pie and Buddy. There’s just so much other exciting stuff for them to do!
