And finally the cause of all the excitement, here is a pic of the mum with an egg which I found when changing feed and water on the 21 February 2012. She looks to be a dominant skyblue pied, but I stand to be corrected You are right about mutation. Have you thought of putting wood shavings in nest boxes?

Hi Buddy I do give them fruits and budgies and a homemade softfood.
As for shavings, there is no need to put for normal/common budgies as they breed without shavings, and if you do put shavings they take out all from the nest box. As long as the boxes have concaves in the floor, then the eggs stay in one place and don't roll about in the box
Thanks Lushen

Another reason to put the wood shavings is to keep the nest box dry and clean

Just noticed that the water is on the floor of the aviary. Placing it on a higher level will keep it clean

Yup that's true, shavings do keep the nestbox clean and dry but I have always found that they take out all the shavings before laying, as for the water I kept it on the floor so that once the babies come out of the nestbox they will have easy access to the food and water. The water is changed daily but I do know that if they are higher they will remain clean. Thanks for the advice Buddy
Thanks Lushen

You're welcome Attaching water feeder to the mesh will keep the water clean.

So if the female is a dominant skyblue pied then what colour is the male, my guess is a recessive darkgreen pied, what would you say Buddy Also what colour offspring will be expected from this pairing? Thanks Lushen

Thanks Lushen In the picture, the male looks Cobalt or Sky Blue to me. If the eyes are dark plum color and cere is purple, it is a Recessive Pied.

The cere is purple but the rump looks neon green so what colour recessive pied would you say that it is, also the body and wings are light cream in colour
Thanks Lushen

Quick question I saw my darkgreen pied female passing a white coloured fluid from her vent, what is the fluid that she is passing and why is she passing the fluid, is this natural?
Thanks Lushen
