Still chirping here - have no photos of the Bengalese at the moment but will try to take some soon. Grandchildren growing fast and weekly baby-sitting times so usually busy.
My granddaughter loves going into the aviary to see the birds so maybe one day she will want to have a couple of birds of her own.
Here's hoping every one on here is doing well.

Nice to hear from you Learner. It's nice when the youngsters take an interest in the birds. Look after yourself.

Even longer away this time.... the budgies are still chirping even through the cold of winter (I cant let them shiver so they have a heater to keep the worst of the cold nights at bay).
The zebra finches (noisy little beasts) are housed in a separate flight and number just 5... making the equivalent mess of a flock of budgies.
I now also have a small "flock" of Bengalese - started with one lonely bird in the local pet shop but eventually managed to source some company for him.... that led to 6 in all. Very gentle and totally non-skittish little birds who put the manic zebras to shame. This winter they have nested together and vanish of to roost quite early in the evening.
As soon as we get a splash of sunshine they are out in the outer flight for a quick flit round before returning for food.
So... although I have been absent for absolutely ages I still have birds and I still remember you - my friends on the forum - hoping you are keeping well and continuing to enjoy your birds.

Lovely to hear from you. Wow, what a mix you have, do bengalese look like finches? Hope you’re all well your end too Bengalese are finches of a sort. They come in various shades of brown, fawn, white and cream. Some have speckled patterns. They cannot be found in the wild but are domesticated from a mix of Spicebirds and manakins. They the most attentive foster parents should another finch need help raising its young they will also accept other finches eggs and incubate them. A placid, chirpy friendly little bird. Everything ticks along smoothly here - my twin grandchildren are 4 and a half... real characters and a total joy to have around. My aviary is due a major update and change around as soon as it warms just a little more - another job on the list.

Ah, thanks. Great to have around by the sounds of it
Do your grandchildren like the flock? I’ve been helping a neighbour with his kids a lot, one is 8 1/2, the other 4 1/2, do my head in, lol
Not long until warmer weather….
