Just like my two! Finlay is the soggy one and Barney is the delicate little flower 🤣
Thanks for sharing. Can't beat a wet budgie photo.

Yes, ariella, Buddy always looks pleased with himself. He's the spokesman of the two and lets me known what "they" want.

There's no better sight than a thoroughly soaked budgie.

After we got home from the vet's on June 14, I settled them back into their big cage but left the door open so they could fly around. They both took a couple mad dashes around, ate some food and then decided it was nap time.

I'm shocked! Late this afternoon Buddy flew over and stood on my head. Not too surprising, he's done that before. Then he jumped down on my shoulder and then onto the back of my chair. The surprising thing is that Tweetie Pie came over onto my head and then joined Buddy on the back of my chair. OK - a new perch for them! They both flew back to the top of the cage. Here lately, Buddy has taken to following me into the kitchen to fly back and forth to his cage. I went into the kitchen to make a salad for supper. Buddy followed me and stood on my head. He's never done that. Then he came down to my shoulder. Confession time - my comfy chair is beside their cage. I make a meal and sit in that chair to eat it. My guys go down and eat their food when they see me eat (always!). I make my salad in a large stainless mixing bowl because I can toss everything easily. Since I live alone, I just eat right out of that bowl. Why dirty up another dish? Please don't tell Emily Post. Today while I was making my salad Buddy stayed on either my arm or shoulder (that's new!). I held up a bit of cabbage for him which he licked but didn't seem too interested in it. Tweetie Pie came over and stood on my head for a while. When I was ready to sit down and eat, I put them on a perch on the outside of their cage. I sat and started eating. Buddy flew onto my arm and tried to get into the salad bowl. I had an avocado salad dressing, so no, no for them. Then Tweetie Pie started flying to the bowl, trying to perch on the edge of the bowl! I kept putting my hand up and he just circled around back to the cage. Tweetie Pie is never that aggressive and persistent! I added more of their food to their dishes even though they had plenty and they were distracted by that. I've read other people saying that their budgies ate from their owner's plate but I never thought my two would attempt it. Maybe tomorrow I'll make a dish for them without salad dressing and put it beside me and see if they'll eat it. They never cease to surprise!

This is so lovely! You are the 'big giant budgie who won't share their food!'
I've tried making a separate plate. Its never worked yet 🤣

One day I had a dessert in a bowl, cannot remember now if ice cream, rice pudding, custard, but loose. he lost his balance and went flat into the bowl, lol. he stood still whilst I cleaned him off though.

ffiscool That was my fear - they'd fall in that deep bowl and then get the salad dressing all over and I'd have a battle trying to clean them.

Success! Both the vet and the nutritionist said I needed to feed my guys egg and the egg food I bought didn't have enough egg and too much "other" stuff. I prepared the hard boiled eggs last night. Late this morning I chopped up an egg and put it on the dish with their sprouts. Tweetie Pie had some egg white and then a bit of yolk. Buddy ate some after he'd eaten some sprouts. Hopefully they'll decide its good and keep eating it.
If anyone is a lazy cook like me, here is how you make hard boiled eggs in a pressure cooker. Put about 1 1/2 cup water in the bottom of the cooker. Put the wire rack in the bottom and put the eggs on top of it. (I cooked 4 eggs but I have a smaller pressure cooker.) Crumpled up aluminum foil also works if you don't have a wire rack. You don't want the eggs sitting on the bottom of the cooker. Use the high pressure setting and cook for 8 minutes after it has come to pressure. When done, use the quick pressure release. Immerse the cooked eggs in ice water until they are cool. The peeled chopped eggs will last about 3 days in the frig. Unpeeled eggs will last 2-3 weeks. Give them the sniff test to see if they are good.

That’s great news. Well done Buddy and Tweetie Pie! My boys have tried boiled egg a few times and I offer it once a week. I find they don’t eat loads of it but half an egg between them all gets eaten and the dogs are always willing to eat the other half.
