Buddy have for my first witnessed time vomited twice today. Cloudy gob of mucous with small seeds the first was a large excretion 1/8 by 1/2 inch, and then later a lesser amount but coated his eye and head. I grabbed him and took a swab sample to take to the vet tomorrow but realized it may be my fault. I changed out his store bought perches for some branches from a plant in my back yard. He never had issues until I built him a large perch stand of this plant in month past. It occured to me that this might be the cause since I introduced it into his cage he has really exhibited symptoms. Turns out the plant is Oleander. Is there a means for treating toxicity for this plant? Buddy is standing tall but clearly has had issues withnit. Appreciate any help. Thanks Ken

Oleander is highly toxic to most animals, including humans. You are probably lucky that this little fella is still alive. Please seek out an avian vet to find if there is anything you can give him to help him recover, and of course remove all traces of this perch stand from his environment.

Buddy is doing fine, he is a strong little guy. He has no symptoms of yeast infection in his crop or liver disease as his droppings are normal as ever. I purged all of his oleander from his environment and the blessing is the oleander perch and stand was all dead and perhaps less than lethal. I have laced his food with activated charcoal powder to help rid him of toxins, also bought some Bentonite clay from our local bird shop to help detoxify him, placed that in his former grit feed bowl. He took a long bath today and is very active I thing he will be fine as long as I follow good advice.

That is very good news; he must not have chewed on it at all. If he hasn’t shown any signs of illness by now I’m sure will be fine.

Update on Buddy, he has been to the vet and he is simply exhibiting mating activity of regurgitating. He does let me clean his head but the crud on his feathers is tough. Does anyone know of a good solution to clean the dried regurgitated goo?

When budgies regurgitate they don't normally get it on their heads. Was this an avian vet?
