Big shout-out for young Patch! A few seconds ago he tried the red pepper. Spat it out, shook his head and then moved on without a fuss. He even tried it a second time whilst I type this - same result 😂 He's a good lad, proud of him.

That's very brave of him! It's a shame he didn't like it.

Recently, and thankfully, Im happy to find more organic vegetables than usual, especially that another store goes out of stock very quickly, but in an available one now , I managed to catch a few types, that Im planning on chopping up and freezing, so I can give them a variety every day as much as possible, but I would really appreciate your input regarding what can I feed them regularly and what I shouldn’t, because of the limited options, for example, I learned here that I shouldn’t offer them spinach often, I also read that they shouldn’t be given celery a lot, but what about the following options that I have available now? Is there anything special about any of them that I need to know? I’m googling but you are my trusted source❤️
-beetroot -red radish -green beans -celery with the greens -arugula -kale -green bell pepper -dill -mint
Any input would be greatly appreciated ❤️🐥

None of these are jumping out at me as veg with properties that would require you to limit the intake. Whether they are eaten or not remains to be seen.

Not sure why though. My flock has tried most of the items on your list. The chocobo likes green beans and everyone likes mint and kale. That's about it though. Peppers were a bust, except with Brown Jenkin the gerbil, who loves them utterly.

That’s true😄👍 thanks Hezz for your reply so basically I should only limit the spinach and celery to 2 times a week then, that’s great thanks again Hezz I really appreciate it ❤️

Thanks Lozhinge for your reply🙂 yeah I read that the long strips in the celery stock May bother them, but I chopped it into small pieces so hopefully it won’t be an issue I love your flock they sound amazing ❤️

Cucumbers are like zucchini and iceberg lettuce - yes, little nutritional value, lots of water and fibre, so good if you have a bird who isn’t drinking, or constipated. There is nothing wrong with these veg, just that there are more nutritious veg out there and budgies don’t eat a whole heap anyway so what they do eat should be as packed with micronutrients as possible.
The only reason for not feeding celery is the long fibrous strands running the length of the stalks. Thinly slicing the celery for the birds gets around this problem very easily.

Thanks Hezz for the clarifying information I really appreciate it ❤️👍 So cucumbers, zucchini, and lettuce are on the limited list 🙂 as for the celery I might avoid buying them all together then, not worth the risk thanks again my dear friend for all your help and input ❤️🌹

I never heard of that OP! lol.
Spinach as part of a mixed diet is fine and healthy. The only time it would be harmful is if that was the only vegetable you fed them and they ate a lot of it every day for a long time.
My birds get vegetables and herbs every single day, but never any fruit (I tried a lot of times and they don't like any!!!)
They devour the following though:
Steamed sweet corn on the cob Broccoli Carrots Spinach Lettuce Fresh Sweet Basil Fresh Coriander Wild seeding grasses
Occasionally they get some Chinese cabbage, but they are not overly fond of that.

I give ‘chop’ 3 days a week & some veg or herb or occasionally, fruit, in a clip the other days.
