Wow, the seed mix looks fantastic I think thats something I want to make at home! Now having only two budgies that would last me quite a long time, how would I store it? I know that the oil will help naturally preserve it also. If I may ask, what exactly is tonic food and what exactly is eggfood and how do I make it? or where would I purchase it and is it called something else in other parts of the world? Sorry again, I just want to get mine on a better diet and your diet sounds like your birds must be in heaven

If I may ask, what exactly is tonic food and what exactly is eggfood and how do I make it? or where would I purchase it and is it called something else in other parts of the world? Egg food is basically egg and nutritious food combined with vitamins. It comes both in dry and moisten types. Dry can be added to seed mix but the moisten should be served separately and removed after a few hours. Mine is 75% made of real eggs. You can also make egg food at home. It will look like this. Here is Marianne's recipe.

This is one of my recipes.
One cup of dry egg-food One cup of tonic food One cup corn One cup oats soaked over night Three small grated carrots 1/4 tea spoon garlic powder 1/4 tea spoon ginger powder 1/4 tea spoon cinnamon powder Two hard boiled eggs with shell Probiotic (Follow manufacturer’s instruction for quantity - I use BioPlus) ProBoost SuperMax (Additional for bringing birds into breeding condition)
People with one or two budgies should reduce the proportions. Saving a little piece of egg from breakfast is always a good idea.

Commercial egg foods are also available. They are easy to store and serve. Just moisten a little very day.

Ah okay thank you, I will be making my own egg food very shortly. So I am still curious as to what Tonic food is? And for the seed mix, I didn't mean that one exactly, I meant the one from the first page in the first few posts. I live next door to an organic grocery store that sells all kinds of seed in bulk... Can I just buy a bunch of seeds (what kind?) and make my own seed mix, that would be the best because I know exactly what is in it. Again you are VERY helpful and I have started exposing my budgies to veggies & fruits the proper way!

Tonic food is just like tonic seeds but it is grounded just like egg food, with extras added to it. Tonic seeds contains, "Japanese Millet, Panicum Millet, Naked Oats, Red Millet, Linseed, White Millet, Golden Pleasure Seed, Nigerseed, Aniseed Oil, Oil Dressing". There are various versions to tonic seed but they are almost similar. Tonic seeds look like this and are available on pet supplies websites like THIS one. .

To make a good seed mix, you can go for 40% canary seed, 40% mixed various millet seeds, 20% tonic seed. Below are verious types of millet seeds. If it is hard to get different types of millet seeds, the other alternative it to go for 40% canary seed, 40% mixed budgie seeds (any good brand), and 20% tonic seed.
