......... is there a way all stickies can be put together in their own section? I think it is the health section we are half way down the page before you find new threads. On another forum it has gotten to the stage where you have to go to page 2 before you find a new thread/post. That is very annoying, I feel, and unless you are looking for something specific you don't read through the stickies every day. I wouldn't like us to get to that extent, of stickies taking up all of the first page.

Hmm. I do know what you mean about lots of stickies being in the way of the current threads.
I could make another board just for the "helpful threads" but then people would only be able to find them be going there and they wouldn't be at the top of the relevant sections anymore. Means we'd have to constantly refer people places.
Any ideas?

No ideas, anyone? To be honest, going by some of the questions asked, I wonder whether anyone reads them, so to a certain extent people are already being redirected. What do the others think?

I think I already mentioned this before, but the Australian budgie forum has a separate section called FAQs covering a range of topics, located in the navigation at the top of the screen. Maybe you commissars could look at that site and see if you think it could work.

I do agree that the stickies are a little excessive in some sections of the forum but I do believe that they are best kept in the sections that they are concerning otherwise they might not get read. Maybe its time for a little tidy up? Something to discuss between us staff

I still reckon though, Rachael, that they aren't being read anyway. The same questions come up time and time again. The basic ones I am going to redirect anyway if I see them. If we had a Q & A or FAQ, could make things easier...........note a I say "could"

I think most of the content is there in the stickies, Marianne. I was meaning use them rather than doing it all over again and the questions some have asked throughout the thread shouldn't be lost as they are sometimes clarifiers. But lets see how we go with some stickies being moved around, first.

I know it has been mentioned in this thread about an FAQ section. I keep seeing some of the same questions being asked time & time again. Sometimes it's "I would have put a picture up, but I don't know how" sort of thing. I do believe a FAQ section would do the job. Maybe a menu entry so that it is always visible. I myself nearly always go to new posts since last visit and so stickies and such never get seen. If there was a menu option then maybe, just maybe members would be able to find the information quite quickly. All the good information in the helpful posts could be linked to the FAQ. All that is needed is to garner the question(s) and link them to the relevant stickie post. I hope I am talking sense here.

Hmm.. Maybe a new board with all the frequently asked questions?
Might take me a LOT of work though.
Any volunteers to scour the forum for the most frequently asked questions and their answers?

There is an old adage that says never volunteer. But I don't take much notice of those adages. So I have my and in the air and offer to do my bit.

Personally, I don't think it will make any difference. If people read through the stickies when they first joined, they would not need to ask the same questions over and over; most of the answers are in the stickies, which, I thought, is why they are stickies in the first place. Regarding the photo question, an update in the 'how to upload photos and vid's' would work just as well as things are now easier with your addition of the 'add image to post' button, Marianne Marlow.

The photo question was merely an example of a repeating question that nearly all newcomers to the forum ask when they have tried to upload a photo. Now whilst the stickies are full of very useful information I for one would not spend a great deal of time trawling through all the posts before posting myself. Now if there was a menu option at the top of the page that took me to a list of questions that keep getting asked, then I would look through that list. if the question has been asked before I would follow the link to the reply. As with things like the photo question it would be a fairly simple task to amend the question in a list to link to the updated information.
