Right. Ouch
2021 (when I started keeping pets) £1200 inc Vet £212
2022 so far £2255 inc Vet £197
Hopefully 2023 looks less hurty as I shouldn't have any large equipment-related expenditure!

I've been working on my spreadsheet and I don't have the numbers for individual budgies yet but in the 10 years since we got our first 4 gerbils in 2010 to 2019 I've spent just under £11,000 on food, bedding, accommodation, vets, medication etc for 2 rabbits, 4 hamsters, 3 budgies, 4 steppe lemmings and 12 gerbils (not all resident at the same time). I still have receipts to go through for 2020 onwards and I will add up amounts for individual critters. I think our bunny, Jess, will come out on top but she did live with us for over 10 years and Randolph Carter must be the top scoring budgie. 11k!! An eye-watering amount!! If I were you I'd stop the count at 2019!

A few worthy contenders, so it's anyone's guess who will win the most-expensive-pet-to-keep-in-relation-to-cost-to-purchase trophy!

Pretty sure he would win the most-frequent-vet-visits-in-short-space-of-time trophy, with the world-beating 16 vet visits in 14 days! Link to blog post No need to wonder why he is top of my pops for costs!

I have just totted up costs over the last 12 months & it's come to £1,015. That's vet visits, medicine, food, supplements etc. And just 3 birds!
