True Marianne, but he is definitely a year old. At Xmas his baby bars had just about gone ,so maybe he was hatched about august/ September? is this pic clearer?

I just zoomed in to this pic of Barney and hasn’t he got an Iris starting?? Also the silver ring possible probably won’t help as pet shops buy birds from warehouse type of places who put the rings on, so they don’t mean much…. Can anyone else see the Iris? I believe I see the lower half of the iris in that pic.

Rito's baby bars are pretty much gone already, and he's from February. They don't make aging them easy.

Yes, loz, zooming in I think I can see some light grey iris.

I've put him in my spreadsheet as a year old ladybird It wasn't that I didn't believe you,I just couldn't see it until you showed me. I can't get close enough to him without freaking him out at the moment!

He does have an iris ring yes, but it's still not as light a colour as I would have expected if he was a year old or more. I'd agree with this. I could see the rings but they are unusually dark. He's just pretending to be a baby to see what he can get away with 🤣

He is very cheeky. I just had to uncover his cage as Iris hit the deck. He's knocked her off the perch. He doesn't realise he's lower in the pecking order than her. He'll learn!! especially if he tries that with Daisy! He does have an iris ring yes, but it's still not as light a colour as I would have expected if he was a year old or more. I'd agree with this. I could see the rings but they are unusually dark. He's just pretending to be a baby to see what he can get away with 🤣

Just before bed. This is a common occurrence now.

Maybe its a blue and white bird thing - my Tweetie Pie must sleep on the highest perch in the cage and that perch must be in a corner.

Barney has now stayed in all four of the current cages overnight. Last night he stayed in with Daisy, Chipper and Billy. Today he's checked out Penny's old cage a few times with Max and zoomed about with Dinku. I have noticed that at least twice a day, he has a little squawking fit where he shouts at the top of his voice and bites the perch in anger/frustration to get budgies to pay attention to him.

He did this on the cage as well. Had a mad very loud sqwuark and flap. Almost like a hummingbird in one place when in the cage. I'd assumed it was he was frustrated to be in or on his own. Maybe he's just an attention seeker?

I think he's doing it here to get someone to pay attention to him He may have been doing it for other reasons before though, who knows.

Marianne I do know that if he got a bit loud during the day he got a cover put over him to make him quiet, plus as you know, he had a blanket thrown over him when he was out of the cage because he wouldn’t go in on his own. I am only surmising that it could take some time to get over his awful start in life. Hence why I was so anxious to get him re homed. I hope is isn’t causing you too much trouble and will settle down soon.

ladybird He's no more loud than the others, plus if I really cared about loud I wouldn't have 9 of them Apart from the first few nights when we had to turn the light of for Paul to grab him, he's gone in on his own more or less. He's been no more trouble than any new budgie here, they all have a past of some kind or other.
