For all three of us. the boys had a good day, a shower, lots of chat and fun and then last night I thought I saw blood around Sams beak. the Boys aren’t trained but they are usually fine with me putting things in the cage if I tell them it’s ok etc etc, but try8ng to catch them isn’t easy and all hell loose when I tried to catch Sam. I stopped twice to let them calm down but the third time Sam managed to get out of the cage himself and landed on the shelf under the tv, he hopped onto my hand (which surprised me) but then flew off and landed at the corner of the book case where I was able to catch him. Of course it wasn’t blood but some vegetable stain from a toy that got wet when I sprayed them, I usually remove everything but I was so hot that I just sprayed one bit of then cage where there was nothing that would be damaged by the water, poor Sam was traumatised by the whole thing as where Ollie and me. I half covered the cage as it was near to bedtime and just spoke very quietly to them until it was time for bed, unfortunately I had a couple of things to do which would have disturbed them if the cage was completely covered. This morn8ng Sam was quiet but has had a chatter and is now snoozing as is Ollie, this heat is just too much for all three of us. I have a fan on, not directed at them but oscillating near them…I’m getting most of thank goodness ! So now I will have to earn there trust all over again. oh and I did put a bit of millet in the cage last night as I felt so awful, that’s twice in a fortnight so no more for a couple of months for them. Sorry for excessively long post to say so little but I was almost crying last night at the thought I had lost their trust again after it had grown much better than a few months ago. Thank you reading this far x Forgot to say that after their shower Sam was preening Ollie something he hasn’t done for months and Ollie was feeding Sam something he hasn’t done for months either.

I can understand the evening you had, Rozenda. Your budgies will recover the trust that they had before yesterday, don't worry. You just need to be normal about them and do as little to unsettle them as you possibly can. I would be employing hand-held millet bribes in you situation in order to help restore the trust but be very careful about offering it directly to them. If they come to you, rather than you to them, things will go more smoothly.
Very pleased the blood was a false alarm!

Thank you so much Loz, I just did their seed and they stayed on the perch they are on so that’s something. I’m not good at coping with a lot of things but when the boys get upset I feel awful.

I can understand your concern at seeing what you thought was blood around Sam's beak.
I had a similar experience when I saw blood around Perry's beak, but in his case, he had been picking at a feather &, long story short, we landed up at the vet where the wound was cauterised because it would not stop bleeding.
So, sometimes you need to be sure & that's what you did! Glad it turned out to only be colouring from a toy. Hopefully you will all recover soon from the drama!

Good Lord sweetpea, that does sound scary. Glad he was ok! rozenda, Sweetpea is right though, you did have to make sure and sometimes this means scaring your budgies a bit, temporarily.

You are so lovely, I feel like a bit of a prat now but I know you all understand the worry etc. xxx

Would you believe Sam is almost back to normal? A little quieter than usual but Ollie is making up for the chatter I usually get from Sam ! I had a grocery delivery and neither of them took any notice of the intercom but when ai was getting a kitchen roll from the bag (.not near them) they both had a warning chatter ! Ahhh, I love my boys but sometimes I do feel I am not good enough for them or any other pet. It’s all to do with Anxiety I know and the boys have helped me so much in dealing with it but sometimes 🙂🙂

I understand the anxiety and I also go through phases of feeling like I am not good enough for them. It just means we care I guess!

I'm glad your boys are fine and that it wasn't blood. I totally understand your worry. I fret all the time when I have to do anything that I think will stress Dexter and he's usually so much more calm about it than I am.
I had a scare like that with one of our rabbits. What looked like a wound on her neck turned out to be the jelly mucus that slugs make when mating. We chased her all round the garden to catch her and she was a bit grumpy about it for an hour or so but forgave me when I gave her some food.

Oh bless her, bet she wasn’t happy about slug goo either ! Both boys are well, I even managed to pu a little piece of celery in the cage without Sam running for the hills! They are happy and chatty but I very much doubt when I have to take them to the vet to have Sam’s back claws trimmed the whole thing will not go well, luckily it won’t be for a while yet ! I’m binge watching Stargate SG1 and the boys seem ok with the noise although I do have the iPad sound lower than usual.

I don't know why my Flock is triggered by some noises but not others. I drop a metal food bowl on the kitchen floor, they don't seem to notice the almighty din. I crush a plastic bottle though and it's head-for-the-hills time.
