Hey guys, not sure where to stick this one but, i thought health would work....if it needs moving then so be it... Anyway, i've noticed daisy and or her poo stinks....the only way to describe it, is if you've had a ferret, she smells like one....cleaned her cage out etc, and she gets baths every 3 days (spray bottle) anyone got any ideas? or is this just a "budgie smell"... cause i know for a fact skye dont smell like it lol....oh also i dont know if this could help but she DOES drink a ton, but i think it's too do with how warm my flat gets.

Hi Rob, The droppings should not smell bad. Neither should your budgie. It's an indication that something is wrong.

Even a day's worth of poop shouldn't smell. It should dry up into small black and white balls pretty quickly after being pooped out.

Are the poops getting big or changing colour? yea her poops are MOSTLY big because of all the water she drinks (it's the middle thats large), some times she will do small one's....and she's too young to be going into season etc.... her poops are mostly green (spinach colour) to dried black and yea stace i guess your right.....

Like Stace said. The poo shouldn't smell. I have 8 birds and their poo doesn't smell, believe me, there is a lot of it.

The most I would ever say I have smelt my budgies, is dusty, if they haven't had a bath for a bit. Unless, of course ther are wet; wet budgies have a smell but once they are dry, they are fine. So Rob, no you aren't worrying about nothing; something is wrong. Poops don't smell either, generally. As you know how Skye smells and have something to compare to, with Daisy's water intake, I can only suggest a vet visit. It may be nothing, a little tweaking here or there with diet etc, or it could be something more serious, but sooner seen to, the better for both you and Daisy. She may be diabetic, or she may just be needing something that no-one has foreseen, and a professional's advice would be needed in her case. I suggest you get her an appointment soon. She is young, and the sooner this is sorted the better.

Just having a look around, Rob, there doesn't seen to a diagnosing factor with diabetes, food-wise but until you can get her to a vet don't give her any seed-bar treats, fruits or anything else that may be sugary. The only other thing that came up with the water consumption was heavy metal poisoning! You have had her such a short time, I can't imagine it could be that.

Sounds like you have been given good advice Rob, looks like a trip to the vets is in order. Let us know how you get on x

I hope Daisy is ok, get her checked asap. Some vets open on a saturday morning.... just thought it might be worth checking if there is one near you that do. Fingers crossed for her.
