Pieds are probably one of my favourite types so lots of grey pieds sounds good to me Had some left over turf laying around from when we did the front garden so decided to try it in the bottom of the outdoor aviary. The canaries seem to like it.

i love pieds aswell ...... .. and i must say i like the grass in with the birds .... and so do they by your pic..... ..

Thanks Mick, theres slabs under the grass which means i have to keep watering it but i wouldnt want just soil/grass at the bottom of the aviary because of vermin digging through.

I've got quite a few chicks now. My pair in the aviary with my cockatiels and finches had 4 chicks but i've transfered the 4th because there was such a big size difference i could see it struggling for food or getting stomped on.
My pied pair have 2 chicks plus the transfered aviary chick.
My green pied and grey opaline hen now have 5 chicks.
Just got to keep my fingers crossed they all make it. I'm on full time egg food rounds now for the parents.
