Better the poops down the back of the screen than the front, lol! But I know what you mean. This is just great (I'm a little jealous - I want one tooooooooo). So all this points to him being a social little fella who just needed the right enviroment to shine. And the same training tools seeming to work for cocktiels as for budgies. He is gorgeous; I want a Smokey in my life!

Well originally i was only looking after Smokey for a week while my friend was on holiday but i had decided halfway throught the week that if she took him back (though i knew there was a large chance she wouldn't) i would get a cockatiel of my own. I'd already been and picked out which baby one i wanted too! I'd definitely recommend them as pets, but you have to get used to the noise level haha. I'm even tempted to get another one, but it wouldn't be a good idea at the moment with Smokey just settling in and Bob the budgie being quite old. I've already got two quite large cages in the living room

Hats off to you Lou, for providing Smokey with his new home. He is gorgeous and I love how he has come to feel at home with you so quickly.

what a beautiful bird you have!! I am more or less in the same situation, except that my bird is only 4 years or about that, she has never been tamed but I been having her and her brother since they were a few months old. They were given to my daughter as a gift but of course she never took real good care of them and I ended up being their main provider, cleaning their cage, feeding them etc. I work long hours 10 to 12 so they only flew a few times and pretty much always got hurt so I soon became afraid to let them out because I read they could break their necks. One was bleeding a little bit from it's beak one day. Since they were a pair they never really took much interest in any of us and I was ok with it. They would always called me or make big fuss when I came in the room so I think they recognize me as their human, they would also make a big fuss when my husband arrives home and they hear the car alarm (so cute) unfortunately the male past away on saturday. I ignore the reason why, they have been their normal self and I came to clean their cage and feed them before I left, Pete was seating on top of the food so I told him to get off and he did then I stood up to grab the broom to sweep the seeds on the floor and he fell backwards to the bottoms of the cage making screeching noises and I didn't know what to do... I thought he got stock or something but soon he stop moving and so I panicked, I ran and call my father in law who knows a lot about birds and used to raise parrots but he was clueless and my poor Pete died in front of my eyes I was so heart broken, I couldn't stop crying and just started to feel a little less depress. But what worries me now is Pita his sister, many people tell me I have to get her a new companion or she will die of sadness and I really don't want to. I am torn about giving her away to a santuary or keeping her and try to make her life a little better. She's such a sweet little thing. I was wondering what anyone here thinks about this situation. Any help would be well appreciated. Thanks!
