Do you use a special mister? When I use mine no matter how warm the water, it always comes out really cold and I don't want to give my budgie, Toby, a chill.

Just a clean water spray bottle - one that hasn't had any chemicals or bleach or anything it. Only spray during the day so they have enough time to dry off before they go to bed. You don't want them cold and wet when they go off to roost. You don't have to soak them, unless they are in the mood for that. Just a light mist is fine, especially in winter if it's cold in your room.

Interesting point about the water always coming out cold. I'm not sure if this depends on the temperature of the air?? Anyhow, I always test the water & it is actually quite hot when I put it in the bottle but just warm when it sprays out.

Because the water is being aerated, (not quite what happens, but good enough for explaining it here), it cools much fast than than a cup full of warm water, where the water drops are all together, so the surrounding air is obviously going to have a greater affect on the droplettes than the whole cup.

Lovely explanation there. Thanks. (You can be our resident Professor )
