Hi Owain, your birds are super,do you have an outlet for that many birds?? hope you don't mind me asking Hi Brian, thank you for the compliment.
Do you mean an outlet for just the Budgies? Well at the moment Brian i still have some chicks just hatched and still some eggs but thats only 2 pairs with eggs. So ill be stopped soon. So in total ill have roughly 130, it can be hard getting rid of surplus stock, private selling doesnt always work because people do not want to buy birds for 10 pound even they expect to pay 4-5 pound for a bird to me thats a kick in the teeth as a breeder. BUT if i cant sell private i have no choice really but to take to a petshop and get 6 pound a bird, but ill never sell a good bird id rather keep it until i can get 10 pound for it.
At end of last years season we had roughly 80 birds in the flight before the start of the breeding season we sold roughly 40 birds to petshops these birds were poor birds we were given for nothing and some we had bred that were poor. so this year we bred with the better birds..
My question is if people will pay 15pound for a budgie in a petshop why wont they pay 10-12 pound from a breeder?

Glad to be back online, sorted my laptop problems out, virus were passed to my pc from 1 or 2 forums i ignored my virus software warnings! I have since factory cleaned my laptop so its back to way i had it, new virus software and everything up to date on the system!! I have also changed my internet software from internet explorer to Opera a much better browser, the best out there at the moment!! So this will now keep my laptop virus free.
Update on the birds i've given all 100 odd budgies to my father as i have been losing interest in them and didnt want to see them go so decided to give them to him to breed and look after, i am now going to put all my energy and time into breeding the finches and cockatiels, and maybe adding a few more finches to the shed maybe some silverbills or hecks.
Update on the shed, now that the breeding season has ended nearly ended we decided to totally revamp the shed, and we stripped it bare all the walls are brick so these were painted silk white the ceilings done aswell, half flights were built instead of walkin flights, more breeding cages were built for the finches. A window that was blocked up before is now open allowing more air and light into the shed. Our shed is a backwards L shape so we now have good air flow from the top to the middle and the bottom of the shed.

All the finches are now in there new flights, what a job catching finches is! Checked my nest of 5 Javas and there feathering up good, time to fledge the nest soon!
Looking forward to pairing up some Bengalese and Zebras soon see how they go, im also working on designing a new nestbox to use for them.
And im loving this new internet browser OPERA, it has a built in spell check!

New Finch nestbox design is finished, 5 x 5inch but from front to back is 6inch, I personally find the standard 5 x 5 boxes to small for a nest of 6-7 Zebs or Bengalese when they are older which causes early fledging, from overcrowded boxes.
