Since the bad winds we had the other day and my aviary lifting up one of my birds is not himself. He looks like he's going through a bad moult with lots of pin feathers coming thriug. And his tail is also bobbing a lot. He is eating and drinking fine otherwise. I have brought him I'n the house and put him I'n a hospital cage with heat. I've took a video For you to see the tail bobbing. Let me no what you think i hope it's nothing serious. Hope the video works I've never done one before

He does seem quite stressed. I wouldn't be able to hazard a guess at what is wrong with him though.
Hope he recovers poor little fella.
We are not Vets, Avian or otherwise. If you have any serious doubts about your budgies' health an appointment with an Avian vet should always be your first point of call.
Current recruits George, Daisy, Iris, Billy, Peter, Chipper, Dinku, Barney and Ayla.
Hard to say Serz. The tail bobbing seems really excessive. You did good step when you took him in the house. It is better not to underestimate anything. Warmth, vitamins and chamomile should be the first step. If there will be a respiratory infection then you will need infra red lamp and antibiotics. Now keep your eye on him. Good luck Ales
The tail bobbing isn't as excessive as that now it has slowed down a lot. There is no gasping of the breath or open beak or anything. Just the bobbing and the moult. His poo is fine too
Do you think keeping him on his own away from the aviary could be making him worse at all?
Not at all you have to isolate if you think he's ill so it is necessary.

You've got him inside and keeping an eye on him Serz. To me he did seem stressed, but I would be too if my house blew over. I think you are doing the right thing for now. See how he goes.
Maybe try to bomb up his diet, too. With all those pin feathers plus his ordeal, it certainly can't hurt. Marianne has put up her egg food recipe for us all - maybe give it a try?

Thanks for the kins words. Do you just think it's stress hezz or something worse? Heres another video from today do you think the bobbing has got better at all?
No Stace I'm trying to get hold of some local but no one round here has heard off it. Looks like I'm just gonna have to order it online. Do you think he looks any better on the second pic?

Maybe a little better. It's hard to tell for sure. The tail is still bobbing though, so keep up the TLC.
Adf has given some good guidance for the meantime.
His tail-bobbing is certainly not a pronounced in the second video in my opinion. In fact you have me alittle worried about Smudge - her tail is always bobbing (but I think always has done). Is it just me or does he seem a little more settled in the second one as well?
Let us know how you and he are getting on.
