Unlike budgies and mojority of parrots, Lovebirds use nesting materials in their nest box. They love to pack it with bark of trees, leaves, wood shavings, straw, their own perches shredded and newspaper etc. They tuck it under their wings and take it to their nest box.

The hen has laid four eggs and we have three chicks already. The other egg is due to hatch in two days.

They are beautiful! I didn't know you had lovebirds. How long have you kept them, or are they new?

Lovely BB. Is that camomile tea or guardian angel, or something else in their drinker?

Nice one, BB. Do these little guys have names? And what will you do with the chicks? How long do they take to fledge? Thank you Hezz They are Gope and Gala. I am planning to keep the chicks. They take six to eight weeks to leave the nest boxes but spend nights for another two weeks with the parents in the nest box. Day out and night in

Thank you Mick My middle name in Clean ;D Just kidding ;D If it didn't disturb them, I would be washing everything every 48 hours They are similar yet quite different to budgies. I agree the forum is very informative They take a little longer to feather up. I will keep the pictures coming

I reall like love birds and they r lovely. I have always want to know sometimes u see on that has no partner or in threes what haps then ? The rubbish pet shop in the high street sells them separate or a pair and often see odd amounts Most pet shop owners don't know the sex of the Lovebirds. The only 100% correct way is a DNA test which is very expensive. So that's maybe why they are unable to keep pairs. But you are right, Lovebirds should be kept in pairs. I feel that they need each other more than any other bird.
