We don't cover Charlie Sue, never have, I know he'd panic if we put a cover over his cage. We don't clip his wings as he doesn't bother to fly much, he's happy sitting on the door of his cage or if I'm sat down he'll join me. It's surprising how many Greys escape from their homes, there's always ads in the lost and found. I've noticed a lot for sale too lately, not sure why this is, whether people get bored of them I don't know. I heard a sad story the other week were a couple who normally kept their Grey in the hallway put him in the shed as they'd just re-decorated and didn't want him spoiling it, the poor thing started pulling his feathers so they passed him on to someone else who fortunately have given him a loving home. I don't think people realise when they get a Grey that they are very demanding and messy birds, but so very affectionate if you're lucky to be picked as the one they bond with.....I'm dreading putting up Christmas decs too, we keep them to a minimum now.

I always covered nina or she would never settle, as shes a typical female and shes nosey.i' ve been noticing theres a lot of greys being lost, its such a shame. They are very demanding lesley but like you said when they bond with you like charlie has with you and nina has with me, they are loving just like a human being and show so much affection.however nina is so protective of me as well she doesnt like anyone hitting me playing around or even giving me a cuddle while she is on my shoulder.my husband jim can give me a quick kiss but thats it she will shove her face in mine so i give her my attention, maybe its jealousy as well. has charlie any certain colours he doesnt like. Nina doesnt like some black items or certain blue items.if i try to dry the plastic cereal bowls you get free from kellogs packets she will attack them and if my fingers are in the way they get bitten too. I was wandering if its the bright colours and faces on them, she really does hate them. sue

Aw poor Jim hope he doesn't feel neglected !! Charlie can be protective but he's not the jealous type, maybe it's the difference in the sexes? after all budgie hens and cocks are so much different. He's OK with colours just objects that he doesn't instantly recognise he will scream at. Silly question but does nina speak with a female voice? Charlie has picked up most of what he says from my son when he was living at home, he has a low 'manly' voice (charlie I mean) and I've often thought he would've sounded strange if he'd copied my voice. He occasionally sounds like me especially when my husband is snoring in his chair he'll shout at him JOOOOOHHHHHNNNN ;D

Funny you say that.when nina says some things she will say it high pitched like my daughter but then when she says ' daddy got to do the washing up ' she will say it in a deeper voice like jims. If she says ' what are you doing?' She says it in a deep voice but with a brummy accent. Its so funny because i know shes a girl but sometimes she speaks with a deep voice like my husband. Yeah i dont know whether nina is frightened of objects or colours now.i know if she has a new toy i have to keep touching it with my nose then turn to her and toych my nose onto her beak.its weird really but i think she wants to make sure its safe to play with. i will have to teach nina to shout jim when he falls asleep on the settee snoring.she says jim but she says daddy more. sue
