I'm thinking. Would it be better functionally to have the REPLY button - the one on the right of the QUICK REPLY box - sitting in the scrolling top bar somewhere alongside the Page Numbers and Actions? It might be less confusing for people? and also means you can reply without having to scroll to the bottom of the thread to post. Just a thought. Made a note of this and will see what I can do.

I'm fine with it as it is myself, but it might confuse some people. Up to you.

I almost always use just the quick reply anyway ....... don't think it will really matter to most people.

Me again causing chaos. Using "quotes" is very useful but I wondered what has happened to the "preview" button and the "spell check". Are they still about? Perhaps it's just me who can't find them.

Still having the odd glitch here with my PC. Every now and then I get whisked off to what looks like a "machine code" (?) version of the forum... total confusion when that happens so I clicked twice ... wasn't sure how to delete so here I am chirping on to fill up a post I couldn't remove. What a pest I am becoming.

Learner If you read Staces very helpful post, it may help with your "preview" issue Replying to posts. Starting with the most simple way. 1. If you want to simply reply to a post. Write in the QUICK REPLY box at the bottom of the forum. Then click POST QUICK REPLY at the bottom left of the box. 2. If you want to reply to a post, with more options, click the REPLY button on the top right of the QUICK REPLY box. It will take you to a new window. Write your post, then click CREATE POST button (on the bottom right of this new window). 3. If you want to quote someone when replying, hit QUOTE at the top right of their post. That will take you to a new reply box, with the person's quote included. Write your response and click CREATE POST to post it. Supplementary information. Once you've mastered those basic posting functions.....4. If you want to quote someone (and see their quote in regular human text without all the computer code)...You do the same as no. 3 above. That is, hit QUOTE at the top right of their post. That will take you to a new reply box, with the person's quote included. Now, look down at the bottom left of the new reply box that has popped up. It says "Visual/BBCode". Click on VISUAL. This lets you read the text as a normal visual text block, without the computer code wrapped around it. Write your response and click CREATE POST to post it. Supplementary information. If you like the look of this VISUAL text, you can change it permanently as a default in your profile under 'Settings". You can still switch between Visual and BBCode for individual posts if you wish.

I cant fathom out why there is a figure 1 by my messages even though I dont have any new messages , and why there is a 2 by my profile . I been on proboards today and apparently admins dont have to change over till late next year because there is so many problems and glitches which are occuring with forums who have switched to V5 so they are now allowing admins to stick with v4 until they can sort it out.
Pity they even bothered bringing in this V5 and stuck to what people know

Pity they even bothered bringing in this V5 and stuck to what people know I've been a member of a different forum for quite a few years. Each time there is an up-grade people worry but soon discover the advantages of newly added features. I'm taking ages to accustom myself to the Budgerigars proboards forum but, despite a few difficulties, the upgrade has shown some improvements for me already: - I can see my book marks for the first time since joining
- It's easier to track replies to my posts
- I'm hoping to receive email notification of new posts (not happened before)
- I'm gradually learning something new
You'd never believe I once taught IT would you
