I have been trying to feed my 2 birds with a little fruit and veg, but neither of the try it, not even a taste, all they want is seed. Is there anyway I can encourage them?

Try grating some carrot and putting it on a plate.
Also some basil leaves, mine can't resist those..

No cooking necessary for the foods mentioned.

If they are pet birds and not aviary birds, you can also try eating the veggies in front of them, and then offering them some. Seeing you eat them sometimes encourages them to have a try. In my experience, you actually have to eat them. Faking eating them doesn't work.

Good point Hezz, but the one on mine is plastic.

Even better! The photo threw me into a tizzy, mentally screaming "unclean, unclean". So lingerie hangers with plastic chain will be adorning aviaries right across the UK.

I have tried them with a sliced tangerine, and some broccoli today and it was a disaster. I put a plate on top of the cage with the food on it and both birds flew to the curtain rail. I got Bert on my finger and walked him over to it, but flew back to the curtains. Am i doing something wrong? are citrus fruits a bad idea?
