Does anyone else have this problem? When I play people's videos, it loads etc and the time bar plays out but I get a black screen.
I think, no I am sure, it is our new computer - with Windows 8. Does any one know how to get around this?

While you wait for an expert, maybe this will help.
I don't use Windows, but I know it comes with its own media player. This is the software your computer uses to play various formats of video file. I think it's called Windows Media Player! Maybe you need to update your software? Or it is not installed? Someone who uses Windows should be able to give you more specific instructions.

Does any one know how to get around this? It sounds like a flash problem. Go to Adobe Flash Player page and check if you have latest Flash Player installed. Did you try different browsers?

I knew either of you two would have ideas ........ not sure if I am allowed to play around with the 'puter though. And thanks also, Stace. Someone put up a youtube link yesterday, and that worked fine. I have to remember to get my Techxpert onto it ....... but I forget about it until the next video comes up. Will post when we get it sorted.

Playing videos from web pages is entirely different than playing videos from computer drives. Use VLC Player for computer videos. It's free and plays almost every thing.

Still haven't remembered to ask the questions, but I am using my son's computer today (our old one) and vids work fine ......... so it's as I thought, something that needs setting or re-setting on the new one.

I believe Hezz means on the forum BB. Firstly, there are two options then. Try different browsers, like Internet Explorer, Fire Fox, Safari etc Update Flash Player.

I believe Hezz means on the forum BB. Yes, Marianne, I can't watch the ones you put up or bumped up of Dumpling. And I can on my son's. Hub's away until Sat night - I have to remember to get him to go looking. Thank you both; you have given me something to work with. (If I tried playing with settings something would go wrong - Murphy's Law)
