So plywood is perfectly safe? That's a yes from both BB and Rachel. Do the buds ever nibble on them? BB, those are little hooks on the front to attach to the cage? I like this box too ....... if I were a budgie, of course....... Yes it is safe and quite strong as my buds never seemed to take a part off it, although some hens would nibble on the entry hole just before going inside for the first time. We leave the edges to outside as well and from inside there is no way to split an edge. Yes these hooks are used to attach it to cage bars and then cage side as well as the perch under entry hole hold the weight. You are welcome to use it at anytime. I can always make a bigger one It would need to be a tad bigger ......... do I get shavings too?

Thanks for replying everyone . I have previously used nest boxes like BB (but the lid opened on top). I think I might get one of those again as I can get them $5-10 form southwest stock feeds in Wagga (I think they are that much) where I get all my budgies from. Nicola

These are some popular ones made from plastic. I don't think my buds would be to keen on using this plastic one.

This thread is five years old. You will need to do some research to find something online.
