Hi all, sorry it's been a while since I posted this but I've been very busy with work. Anyhoo, It's the 11th day since Emy laid her first egg and I am shortly going to have a look and see if the first 2 are fertile. But, since this is my first time breeding I have many more questions. Now I have read through Barrie Shutts Breeding guide and so far I have done everything right (I think) Now it comes to checking the eggs what I am wondering is, can I check ALL the eggs including the 1 she laid last night or should I just check the first 2? also, if all or some of the eggs are infertile do I remove the infertile ones and leave the rest or put them all back in and leave her to it? - bearing in mind she is due to lay another tomorrow (that'll make 7 in total). I'll take a pic of the eggs when I open the box in a bit Oh and they have mated multiple times - I have seen them mate at least 4 times over the past week.

Usually you can candle the first egg when the fourth one is laid. It is even better to candle after 10 days.
Don't remove the infertile eggs, as you never know.

Don't handle the eggs. Use something like this so you can candle without touching the eggs.

Oh and they have mated multiple times - I have seen them mate at least 4 times over the past week. Have you seen them mating after the egg number six was laid?

yeh just now actually and last night immediately after she laid it - does that make any difference? It's an indication that she is going to lay more. Most of mine stop laying once they stop mating.

Emy is not spangle. She looks like a full-body-color greywing.

Emy is not spangle. She looks like a full-body-color greywing. i agree with BB . a spangle is a bird that instead of white highlighted feathers (as you can see on your normal grey) the highlight is black. .
