Guess, who had carrot this morning......all of the buds INCLUDING WIGGY?! Wonders will never cease I tell you! I know it sounds daft, and I dont have pictures of the event but I just had to tell someone! Reason I couldn't get pictures was my hands were full of carrot and cris-crossed everywhere to keep the peace between squabbles! I am one very happy budgie mummy

I gotta admit, I do rely on their " competitive" behaviour as if one wants it then you can guarantee that the others think "well they didn't die so perhaps I can have some"!

That sounds good to me, I am hoping that will be the same when I get bud nr. 2. I pegged some thinly sliced carrot onto Hobs cage the other day, I think he may have had a nibble... not sure, but then he proceeded to ferociously tear it up, throwing it all over his cage in a little fit of rage. So funny! The carrot didn't stand a chance. Carrot rage

Even if it seems he is throwing it everywhere, he is getting the taste and some miniscule amount will be being ingested. Wait 'til you try him with broccoli! Sam, have they all got dirty faces now? ??

Well in answer to your question Hezz....sort of! Barney NEVER misses his beak as he eats as if the food will run away Murph, well he is so dignified he never dribbles on his fine suit Alfie goes MAD and get it everywhere whether it be face, body cage......me ..and Wiggy? Yes he does, he gets an old grandads dribble round his beardy bits!

Lousette - Carrot rage - I like that. My Lacey has carrot rage. I hand fed her carrot the other day and she frantically bit off bits and threw them everywhere. Then proceeded down to the floor to eat all the bits!!

Mine go through phases with carrot sometimes leaving the nice organic offering to wilt in the clip and at other times having lots to eat as well as bite-then-lob! Berry is a very tidy budgie and goes around eating bits that have landed on perches or even the floor. Woody doesn't bother with this. Luee is more inclined to sit and eat his way methodically through it.
I have always given them a whole (small) one and it seems like good exercise for them to work away at it.
I have also grown the tops (but not all will grow - supermarket organic ones not - farm shop ones better) and they love eating the greens.

Hubby has put foot down at two .... but we will slowly be nagging him and eventually he will cave (given we are 3 girls against one poor little man). Give us a few months

Yes he does, he gets an old grandads dribble round his beardy bits! You have summed them up perfectly!!!!! You know how carrot stains your plastic containers if they are used in the microwave? Well I think my little white faces have the same problem. They are never without carrot long enough to go back to being white, so perpetually have dirty faces.

I have a feeling Hezz that once Alfie's white colour spreads completely accross his face he will suffer from the same trouble! But for now, he still looks like he has come out of the coal bunker
