What a great post, I had a look at the book. I am very lucky in that my Father owns a field and it has never had pesticides sprayed on it, ever, the person who owned it before him was my godmother and they only ever used natural fertilisers and this was years ago, it was just used for meadow hay, the hay from it is so sweet and contains so many nice grasses e.t.c. I will be taking a wander down there, along with a very good book I have on Grasses and wild plants, it's not near a busy road either, so should it be ok?

It sounds positively divine, Tina! There doesn't seem to be grasses that are not acceptable for the budgies. I go for a forage every morning for my two and you will learn what they like and what they don't. I have found a couple they won't touch, a couple they devour, and another few they like as a treat, but not every day! Go pick a couple of difernt grasses and seeds every day and take note of what they swarm, and those they leave. Some will be the grass seed heads, some the leaves and stalks, some maybe both. Watch and see what they like.

I picked some grass, Sky loved it, not sure if she found more amusement in playing with it though. Tommy stayed away from it, it's a "new thing" so he will ignore it for a while, then curiosity will get the better of him :-)

Seeding grass is a great thing to feed them. I try to give mine some every day, if I can get out and gather it.
It keeps okay in water in the fridge for a while, so I pick a large bunch and it lasts for several days until I can get out and harvest some more.

Wow! A cookery book for budgies! I shall definitely give this a more in depth look when I have more time. I'm sure there's lots of good ideas.

I'm going to have to get a little budgie garden going! I gave Skye some spinach before and she loved it but the problem is that I have to buy a whole bag for one little budgie (I don't like it myself) so I'll get some ideas for stuff to grow! I like having a project lol ;D
