This is one of the friendliest new budgie meetings I have ever seen I agree with Marianne about Elf feather problem. Keep us posted on how their bond with each other affects their bond with you.

Keep us posted on how their bond with each other affects their bond with you. i have already noticed that trying to get one to step up when they are both out of the cage is a hard thing to do-elfie will now fly of and meeko will follow or visa versa...i have decided that in the early morning i willbe getting each one out on their own for one on one time to try and keep a bond with both...i know they have only just met so they are very excited but could see how the bond could be lost with out working on it... If any one can give me surgestions how to keep bonding now they are together as i would hate foe all the work Sarah put in to Meeko to be lost now....

Just keep it up. Hector has recently bonded with my husband and myself, also Sky. I got 6, so it's possible.

Each on their own for some one-on-one time is a very good idea. You may have to move to another room to do any good though. But with both out together don't forget going back to your initial working with Elfie ......... if you can get them both into a small room (bathroom?) Elfie can't fly off as far; Meeko may well decide it isn't worth the bother and stay put, but it gives you the upper hand in controlling Elf's flits. Too much room can be a right pain when you are trying to reinforce training. Also, make yourself part of them. Spend time going over to the cages and talking to both, getting them to step up, giving them a scratch (Meeko anyway), a treat in your hands etc etc, so they both associate you with positives in their lives. Every time you go into their room even if for five seconds go and talk to them, give 'em a kiss and I am positive you will have no problems keeping the bonds strong.

Thanks Hezz-funny as there is no way Meeko can come out on his own with Elf in the same room as he just goes straight to him so we leave Elf in the bedroom with my o/h whilst i bond with Meeko then i put Meeko in his cage and bring Elf in who is just fine to come out and sit on my finger constantly until i put him back in even with Meeko in the room
