That's what I noticed too, Nina. How lovely that all "the boys" are involved in their own capacity.

The foundations: The weather was delightfully dry, we had some time so the big, long anticipated, move began……after a considerable bit of planning (on my behalf) and discussion with the expert… “Hefty building blocks? Are you sure, Dad? Nothing will dig up underneath with paving stones as a base.” “Yes, I need concrete blocks. They will lift the entire shed up from the ground. I want to make sure that it doesn’t sit in water even if we have another very wet winter and I want cats to be able to go under the shed.” (Please bear in mind that this patch of paving had two inches of rain water across it for a week or two during the winter and there are loads of interesting little critters living in next-doors out-back jungle - off to the right of the photo below). So after a little head scratching and a bit more explaining /convincing the tape measure came out, the blocks arrived and the cement was mixed. It was looking “very interesting” according to my father… but there again almost anything would if you had looked out of the same front window for the last few months and disliked most of the things on tv. (My mother watched tv throughout….)

If that's where your talents lie .............. Well, looks like you are off and running ...... son did take note to raise the floor up so all is good. Hopefully more sunny days ahead.

Onward and upward...With my help the dismantled shed panels were put to one side and, with me just watching (inbetween dashing in and out to see my parents were OK), the new floor began to take shape. It looked pretty good to me... I just hoped the potting shed would fit. I would have measured the iternal size before we took it to pieces but there we go. I try not to fuss but did ask a few questions. It's starting to take shape. A new floor!!

That is looking absolutely amazing. You have put in so much work already - the budgies will LOVE it. Thanks - I'm more than delighted with it too. The hard work was all mine my son's. I'd still be cycling up and down carrying concrete blocks one at a time from the builders' merchant if he hadn't taken over. In a very short time things have come on *leaps and bounds - or should that be *flaps and squawks? The potting shed bird house now sports a very cosy layer of insulation and is panelled with plywood. No date set although I’m hoping it will be before the hot, hot weather arrives this summer as the gang of 6 are presently in our conservatory over the road. Cosy through the winter but it won’t be comfortable come high summer (if we get one). BudgiesBuddy I’m amazed how much my son has managed to do so speedily. The work was carried out over just a few days. When I get time I’m posting each step to show how “we” got along. There’s loads still to do… and I’m dithering over the details… as usual.
